I throw all my topwater baits on 40lb Power Pro braid. You can cast it a mile and get the same action at 50yds that you get at 10 yds because it doesnt stretch and give. Also, if you hook a log or a limb you can usually bend a hook out before it breaks. I throw a Rico a lot and usually dont like loosing those.Mono line will work as it floats and stays on top of the water which results in good bait action but it is "spongey" and your line will stretch a LOT at long distances.. Flourocarbon sinks which kills topwater bait action. Just my thoughts..
