Fished Norris Saturday morning. We launched right about daylight, it was cold & windy. A cold front had pushed through that night and I'm not sure of the exact temp when we started but I'd guess low 40s (when we got back to the house at 4:00 it was 52). Wind was 10-15 with gusts around 20. Mostly cloudy all day, sun only broke through briefly. Water was clear, but due to the high wind, visibility was limited. Took out of Blue Mud Holler (Big Ridge State Park) Fished top waters early with no luck. We switched to texas rigged lizards & started fishing the coves in Blue Mud. Did pretty well, boated 9 total, 8 largemouth & only 1 smallie. Nothing huge, e a few around 2 lbs, maybe a little heavier.
Oh yea, lake level was 1,008. I believe full pool down there is 1,020
Tva built a system of dams for flood control, they close upper reservoirs gates and hold water, how do they do this without making mods to current lakes, simple they draw them down in winter thus can hold spring runoff,or some of it.
Thus winter drawdown.
If its like ky lake 2 more ft to go
And any rumor about them drawing down past winter pool for repairs are just that,as thats what coffer dams are for, they can replace any gate or lock without going past that.
Any more would be a navigation problem for the tugs and commercial traffic.
Does drawdown effect anglers sure does, fish move and where one could float a boat prior egrets can stand,so pays to stay in the channel.
All maps electronic or paper all give depth readings of summer pool not current pool, including your gps, with the latest chip.
