Comparing Obama to Hitler?

Maybe you all have already heard it, but anyway ESPN pulled Hank Williams Jr. after he compared Obama to Hitler. After 23 years or so Hank won't be opening for Monday night football anymore.

I'm sure Hank could give a crap less...I've seen it plenty of times where some artist will do something or sing about something that gets him banned, fired, temporarly layed off or at least called to the carpet on some sensitive subject. Even though Hank doesn't get any radio time these days, his fan base will become even more loyal to him than what it was before. He'll end up selling more records now to give his music career a boost.

I'm gonna miss his football intro........Hopefully he will still be doing them in the future.

Seriously, to me Hank is a card or two shy of a full deck anyway. He might not have even meant to say that the way he did because if you watch it he just seems out of it. Almost like he is grabbing for the right thing to say but goofs it up???

I could care less about what he said since folks and politicians have said a lot of bad stuff about each other and especially about GW. Only thing here is that ABC/ESPN and their parent Company Disney decided they could do something about it. Thats their choice......

Can we get a video of when he said it? I feel like its been taken out of context or spun around in a way that wasn't intended.

Hank is from the old school, and old school doesn't seem to fly in today's PC world....plus has a lot of liberal enemies, especially since he's mentioned a few times about running for senate.

Yeah I saw the video and it was a short clip. Looked like the fox news folks were a little concerned about his interview. Maybe even a bit ticked off. Looked as if they knew he was messing up.

Wasn't Hank Jr. a part of the Rowdy Boys group/gang since he first broke into the music scene? Every time I have heard him say anything, which has been a while, he just opened up his mouth and let his uncensored statements fly. He has never given a rat's rump what others think of what he says and does.

Maybe he had just spent a few minutes too long on Willie Nelson's bus and inhaled some of Willie's polluted air.

In all honesty, I believe he had been reading some stories from a WWII magazine which made some comparisons of their own. My husband is a history buff and WWII is one of his favorite topics. I picked up an old edition he had been reading and read comparisons of that war and the similarities of the wars of today. I didn't hear what Hank Jr. said but, from what you guys are describing, it sure does sound familiar. If I can find that magazine, I will post what I read.

Bocephus is to country as Eminem is to rap. That being said, they are going to say what is on their mind. They don't really care if anyone gets offended or not. If your scared of what the answer might be, don't ask the question. I did think the looks on the faces of the interviewers was priceless though.

Why not say exactly what's on your mind...If there were more of that, and less of people ducking and dodging trying not to offend people would the world be the way it is today?...If someone on this board compared Obama to Hitler nothing would come of it, but a person in the public eye says it and it gets blown all to hell...They're taking away our gun rights, so I guess next in line is our freedom of speech?

Well...it seems as if our good ol' boy Hank has released an apology of sorts for what he said yesterday. He said he was "misunderstood," and admitted what he said was extreme, but it was to make a point. He was simply trying to explain how stupid it seemed to him – how ludicrous the pairing of the two was.

Rockin' Grand ol Hank went on to say that he believes the Tea Party has been unfairly portrayed as "racist and extremists" and declared his support for the struggling working class. He said "when both sides are high-fiving it on the ninth hole when everybody else is without a job, it makes a whole lot of us angry".

I like Hank...always have...seen him EVERY time he's been to Louisville, plan to go the next time he comes here too.
