Ive had one for about 6 months with the DI and I like the unit. I wish i would have gotten the bigger screen now but overall it is a great unit for me. It seems like the GPS on mine takes a while to locate me though sometimes 5 min or more. Thats the only gripe.

I picked up the 596di/hd and i luv it. I imagine the gps would be nice, i didnt need it.

Did you transom mount the transducer or put up front on trolling motor? I have heard of some people getting interference from the trolling motor. I'll be putting mine up front.

I put mine in back. I have a transducer in my trolling motor, so i use a cheapie on the front, cant use my downimaging with that transducer.

Try www.universalmania.com. I got my 798CI SI HD and my 788 CI HD from them for CHEAP. The 788 is under $600 I beleive.

I've got the 1197si combo on the front with the translucent mounted on the tolling motor. I have no problems with mine,and I've found that I use my down imaging more then the side imaging. I love it. I have a 787ci and its the internal gps on my dash and it takes a few minutes for it to locate my maps on it but the other one on front is a puck gps and it picks right up fast. I sounder if it makes a difference if you have a internal gps or puck mount.
