    Re: Crappie fishing at bluegrass

If you go to Loon don't launch at the South end where it's shallow and full of coal dust in the muck. I plugged up my water pump the last time I tried to launch there. I remember backing up though the muck and weeds trying to get off the ramp out into deeper water. That just cost me $200 dollars in repair bills.

I have caught some nice crappie on Loon in the spring time. These crappie came out of Loon Pit in April of 2010.

Loon Pit sure looks Fishy to me. I've only caught some big slabs out of there one time. But, I just don't fish Loon very much due to the design of the North Concrete Launch Ramp. If they had some beach area to park the boat I'd use it more often. It's a really nice lake and has lots of variation in the topography and lots of grass and some wood too. There is a forest of small wooden trees that can be found in fairly deep water. 25ft to 15 ft deep. But it's so thick that it's hard to fish unless you go weedless.

There is a lot of grass and I have seen CO fishing the grass areas a lot. Killner likes to catch crappie. He has a LUND boat and is often out there fishing for crappie on his days off.
