Thanks Chub your timing on this post was timely as well. I just lost a family member today who lived a long life. She always told her kids as well as me to ignore what everyone else was doing and make our own lives. Thanks

Some of you may have seen this, others may not have. The video is on youtube but I like to read stuff and refer back to it, etc...This is a good read and worth your time in my opinion.

Joe,
Sorry to read of your loss. Hope all is well.
Tim,
I watched that speech and it was awesome. I didn't get wrapped up into all the sorrow of his death.... Mainly because I didn't know the guy. I respected his work and his accomplishments and his contributions to the technology world and feel for his family.
I feel more sorrow for the military men/women and family members who have lost loved ones fighting/defending our soil, rights and liberties. They have enabled us all to pursue our dreams.
Surely, not hijacking your thread because his message was worth watching.![]()
Thanks for posting... what can I say..........http://news.stanford.edu/news/2005/j...bs-061505.html

ummm Was he a personal friend of someone on this board? I dont see why all the hoo ha over his death. It is always sad when someone who is young has to die of cancer but it happens all around us everyday. Prayers are for the family he left behind. I guess to America he is a hero cuz he lived your American Dream of starting a business and getting super rich. Yes that he did. I guess that is what alot of you aspire too.
So, what are you trying to say?????ummm Was he a personal friend of someone on this board? I dont see why all the hoo ha over his death. I hear what you're saying Don...I didn't lose any sleep over his death either. But knowing what little I know about the guy I certainly respect how he made it to where he did. You thought the speech was awesome...I'm not sure I would describe it as awesome, but it certainly was meanigful and thought provoking, considering at the time he gave the speech he had just beat his first bout with pancreatic cancer (I think it was pancreatic anyway). I just thought everyone might want to watch it, maybe stop to think about it a little, and that each person might walk away with something a little different from it. I mean you know...Steve Jobs man! From rags to riches on his own, having experienced being a poor adopted kid to living life on top of the world to experiencing a life-changing event as he gives a speech to a graduating class of college folks about to embark on their own journey in life.Joe,

Hijack any of my threads all you want, same goes for anyone else as long as they're respectful. It's only type written words on a computer screen, we can all get along here and hopefully walk away from here better off than when we arrived.
A personal friend to someone here? C'mon....most likely not.ummm Was he a personal friend of someone on this board? I dont see why all the hoo ha over his death. I guess to America he is a hero cuz he lived your American Dream of starting a business and getting super rich. Yes that he did. I guess that is what alot of you aspire too.
Yes...I wouldn't mind being filthy rich. But depending on one's definition of rich, well....I'm rich in many ways, very VERY blessed actually. Got all I need, that's for sure.
Sure am sorry to hear of your loss Joe...losing someone ain't no fun. That's pretty wild though, her telling her children the same thing Steve Jobs was basically telling that graduating class....ignore what everyone else is doing, follow the narrow road (your own road), if you don't feel the passion in what you're doing then be patient and don't give up. It will come in due time.
As the saying goes "Dont count your chickens until they have hatched". What you think you have and need now maybe gone in the blink of an eye!
I see some relevance to Steve Jobs death to those on a computer fishing discussion board as I type this on my iPad in whatever font this happens to be. I have to admire someone that did their own thing. No argument there, as I don't think any body else is laying claim to the sucessful mass marketing of the concept of a graphical user interface. I think Xerox actually invented it at Palo Alto but they didn't know what do with it.http://news.stanford.edu/news/2005/j...bs-061505.html

I never owned and never considered buying any apple products until a few months ago. I had never been in an Apple Store and had never even noticed an apple store before. These products were simply not allowed to be purchased with any cash that I had a hand in making. When the iPad came out I was sure it would be a instant failure. Who needs a bigger iphone? But then I got one in my hand and I went over to the Apple Store the next day and gave them my cash.
I think you will be seeing a lot of these things on fishin boats in the future. Its usefulness on a boat is only limited by how much one wants to do with it.
Do you think Jobs ever wet a line or did he prefer his fish sushi style. Doesn't matter, does it.
I remember using my iPhone boat ramp app last year for the first time and thinking how cool it was. The weather and gps apps have been used as well and all with fishing trips.
I love technology and it just so happens that I have apple and PC stuff. I'm slowly switching over to Apple. I too am using my Ipad2 to type this and I prolly surf 75% of the time with this. Laptops, for me, are tools at work and that's pretty much where it stops.
Apple tv hockey puck thingy is next on my list. My understanding is I can use my iPad2 and send HD Netflix movies to the HDTV.
