That bear not only ate me..............well, we will leave THAT alone...
It was a tough trip. I've already cancelled my next one I think, but I will be adding a make up in November........
I'm a gonna open multiple cans of woopass the next time, cause Homey don't play that.......
Hey George...I'll be down there oct 31-nov 6...may shoot ya a PM and get your number....can't hurt to have 2 sets of eyes when the fishing gets that tough
The cold front that went through last Saturday night (Oct.2nd)_along with no wind really made fishing bad at Ky lake last Wed And thursday. I fished on Monday of that week and caught lots of fish. Several on Tuesday, 2 on Wed and 1 on Thursday. Friday the wind blew from south and I caught a bunch again.
All were in water less than 10 ft. Backs of bays.
I'm down in the Paris area until the end of the week and the fishing has been tougher than a two dollar steak. We can find baitfish everywhere but finding the bass is another story. Chasing fish in the backs of creeks is about the only thing really working for us. Maybe if we make a long run south...to Alabama and then we might find some good fishing.
We might try the tailwaters one day, have never done that before. Any advice on where to put in or what to try would be appreciated. We don't care what we catch, just want our lines stretched.
Fish are in the creeks and bays, just like the baitfish. Keep throwing, maybe shakeyhead in 6-10 ft.
I fished small bays/creeks yesterday and only managed 3 fish. Huge schools of shad everywhere. Several were so large that my front depth unit showed me in 2' of water when I was in 12! Bass busting all over them. That is frustrating.
One of the keys right now is activity, lack thereof and one is a long time between bites.
Ive been fishing wind swept pea and chunk rock points, topwater buzzbait, horny toad, gsplash when chop permits it catching 15-17 in fish nothing to write home about yet more keepers than non.
Bay mouth pea gravel points being the best producers.Depth 1 1/2 to 4 ft,on Ky.Barkley should be close in nature with flats next to deep and shallow points creating a wall for them to corral food.Eating 5 to 7 in gizzard shad right now.
Ditto on my end. Quick trip Sunday and caught last few hours on KY before dark. Did drop in on some schooling bass / yellows. Nothing big but did manage several keepers out of that school. On thing that was kind of surreal was I kept moving towards the jumps, staying as quiet in the boat as I could and at one point found my boat in the middle of the jumps. I mean the fish were blowing up so close to my boat I am surprised I didn't feel them bouncing off the sides. I could have touched them with my rod tips! But Monday was the pits. I found myself back on KY in the morning and ended up throwing ultralight cranks to get some action. Finished on Barkley in the afternoon and same slow action but did scratch out 2 or 3 that would keep. Tough conditions with the bright blue skies, mostly calm winds, and as the fish are in transition mode. When the weather changes they will bite. I look forward to the surface action just around the corner...
