And yes, my disability check offsets part of my army retirement check, but not my fed civ service retirement check, nor my current term fed civ service check. When ya serve 3 ways, ya get paid 3 ways. And the census bureau paid me on top of that. That's why I drink good bourbon, as well as to kill the pain in my knees and shoulders. Next.

The daycare thing makes me mad ? WTF do they need daycare if they aren?t working? And the fact she said that a friend is listed as the daycare place and then they split the money?..I guess that means the more kids you have, the more daycare that gets paid for, and the more money you take in! The one with the most kids wins! ARGH!

    It's pretty accurate.

I was sitting in a fast food joint the other day eating lunch with some friends of mine. This guy walks in, hands an application to the lady behind the counter, and asks her to sign a piece of paper...which I assume was from the unemployment office. The lady says, "You know, we actually need a couple of people for nights, let me get my manager." The guy says: "No, that's alright. Just sign the paper for me. That's all I need." She does, and he walks out.

That pretty much says it all right there.

I'm paying for that guy to spend a few minutes a week filling out job applications, taking them around, and getting a piece of paper signed saying that he is doing it...so that he can get his check. After all, he is "actively seeking employment." Yeah. Right. I'm also an astronaut and I own this bar too.

There are a lot of people out there who can't find work...the economy *****...and I get that, I really do. I'm not so cold and callous as to say that we should do nothing for those folks. Jobs that pay the bills are not easy to come by for everyone. But, the welfare system is broken, plain and simple.

sure its broken, but imagine how many folks work for that part of the government. As for unemployment benies, if you have worked for 15 nyrs or so, and are drawing 300 bucks a week for being laid off, do it! but after 26 weeks you're done. Part of that pay was paid for by you and the employer. At one time there was retraining available, those who took it usually made out fairly well, but a lot of the money for that has dried up.I dont think we will ever see employment figures nationaly under 7%. Dead beat DADS should be just that. beaten dead!Welfare moms, two and out[out goes the repro organs]

I wonder if anything would happen if that manager picked up the phone, called the unemployment office, and told them that the guy applied for a job, he offered him one, and the guy turned it down?

    Yeah, I know, dream on...
