The unions seem to be trying to latch onto the anti-Wall Street movement, if you can call it that. Just guessing, but I'd bet that most union members don't want to see slackers getting any more $ than they have earned. Also, that seems to be the crux of the anti-Wall St. crowd. Those college kids who've never held a job think that it's terrible for Wall St. people to earn big salaries.
Once the big $ gets within reach, the union folks AND the anti-Wall St. coffeehouse gathering seems to respond by saying, "LOWER TAXES!"
