Summer pool is 552 and winter pool is 525 so that means the draw down will be 27 ft. "normally" on Sept 15 they barley open the main gate and draw down 2 ft over the period of two weeks + or - a few days. Then on Oct 15 they "normally" open the main gate and start the main draw down. Per: corps web site on 10-16 the main gate was set on .40 with a discharge of 1800cfs which resulted in the lake falling .39 which = around 5 inches. "normally" they will increase the discharge rate to .60 and when they do that the lake willl fall about 7 inches per day.

With that being said the lake is at 549 on 10-16 so it should take around 50 days + or - pending future gate setting. If we get enough rain to make the inflow greater than the out flow obviously it will take longer to reach winter pool. Within 30 days you should see a big differance and by the 1st of Dec it "should" be close to winter pool.

I have fished Barren for many years and it is always very low by thanksgiving and at winter pool by mid december. May 2010 when the big flood came the lake rose 20 ft in a 24 hour period so that means mother nature can put the draw down behind schedule in a hurry.
