Approximately when will Barren officially be at winter pool?
Man those hybrid jumps at BRL were a BLAST!!! I feel like the fishing Gods wanted me to leave Kentucky with one last BANG!!! We got into them one evening...I'll never forget it...every cast for nearly an hour...average hybrid around 8lbs. Amazing....Went to check on the hybrids a couple of hours before dark, near the dam. Caught a 3.5 LM on a tube 20-25ft deep and a short fish up shallower, while waiting on hybrid jumps which never happened. Guess the hybrid jumps are mostly over. Missed another good fish that blew up on a popR along a bluff. Lake looks to be turning over near the dam.
I'd say you'll probably need to fish deeper, with finesse baits near the dam, but can probably catch them shallow up the river or creeks.
Looked to be about 75 rigs in the parking lot at the dam. Hope you regional guys who have come down here enjoy your time here, and catch a lot of fish.

I fished the BFL there last week.
Had 10.10 the first day and was sitting in 17th place.
The first day weather was probably some of the worse conditions I have ever fished. 40 mph winds, around 40 degrees that morning. mid 50's by the afternoon. But you know the old saying, some of the worse weather conditions means it makes some of the best fishing conditons.
The fish was biting good. I was catching them on secondary points in Beaver creek with a cumberland craw jig and a green pumpkin chunk trailer dipped in chartruece dye. The fish was really hitting top water great all week in practice, but had problems hooking up. For some reason they was just hitting the side of my Buzzbait. I tried rico's and other topwater baits like sammy's, but the buzzbait is where the bite was, I just couldn't get them in the boat.
I had to quit 2 hours early the first day of the tournament, because my starting battery died on me and I had to use my trolling motor battery to get back to the ramp. And yes I have jumpers but they went bad too I guess.
Second day was a picture perfect day for boating but not for fishing
Blue bird skies and around 70 degrees. This absolutley killed my bite. My fish moved out on me and all I could come up with was 1 slot fish that weighed 1.12
I only weighed 4 fish the first day and like I said, I had boat problems. Man I wish I could have stayed and fished those extra 2 hours. I know that I could have caught the 5th fish and possibly culled out that little slot I had. That might have made the difference for me being able to fish the 3rd day. But that's how it goes sometimes.
All and All I had a great week down there and the fishing is really on there. That front moving in, killed me and most of the field.
Most of the guys that had fish the first day came up short on the second day.
Mark Dove was leading it the first day with 16+ lbs. But only weighed in one small slot fish the second day. He didn't make it to the 3rd day. I'm pretty sure He was on the same pattern I was.
I would recommend that lake to anybody. There is a lot of fish with a good ratio of big fish as well.
NKY TRITON
Went down this afternoon for about 4 hours. Caught maybe 20 with 3 keepers. They were hitting crankbaits, and spinnerbaits around rocky shoreline, stumps and wood. Fish seem to be spread out. Kept the trolling motor hot and covered a lot of water. They were hitting the spinnerbait hard. Probably hitting other stuff too. Threw a trap, buzzbait, and tube a little but no takers. I keep hearing about all these buzzbait fish, but they run and hide from mine. I believe I'll get there earlier tomorrow.
Planning on heading over to Barren from London on Wednesday. Just wondering if anyone was willing to give some info as to what the LM are doing right now. Thanks
fish are hit or miss
one day will hit any thing that u got
an the next nothing
points an channel bluff walls seem to be doing the best
Is the fish shallow for the majority? Using reaction baits, or any fish being caught on slower presentations such as worms, jigs, etc? Is fishin any good around the Narrows/Skaggs mouth? Thanks in advance. The BFL guy is the man. That is a nice, healthy report. Thanks for everybody's replies. Greatly appreciated.
quality fish on small worms an jigs 8 to 12 foot deep
lots of small fish with an occasional good one in the shallows 4 foot to 4 inches
