There is not a single public school in the state that can claim that I'll promise you. And also, anyone can apply for financial aid, not just athletes. These are not full scholarships though, the most I have heard of anyone getting was 2500$, which is 25% of the tuition. The bottom line is that many families have to make sacrifices to send their sons to these schools. They wouldn't have entrance exams and waiting lists if many people did not think it was worth it for their son to get a quality education.
Most everything you say I agree with, but all of it is irrelevant to the whole point, which is that they do in fact recruit football players.

Male and Manual do did as well. I know Ballard, PRP, Butler and many other schools do as well. When I graduated from Trinity 96% of us attended college the first year. Another 2% went with in 3 years. That did not include those who went into the military. You do get a good education and discipline.

My wife works for JCPS for many years as a teacher and as an administrator, she is in one of the best schools in Jefferson Co. Our kids are not going there. We have chosen the private route. It is a pain financially and makes it difficult for our commute, but it is a sacrifice that we are both willing to make.

Male is not able to recruit like they could because the principal put the kabosh to that and Manual can only get a kid who have the academics, which makes their recruiting miniscule, because too many kids cannot meet their standards. X, Trinity, and the other private schools do not have this problem. They can take any kid they want and they don't even have to live in the same county or even the same state. St. X had a kid that went on and played DB at UK who was from Jeffersonville and both schools have had other kids from Indiana, Oldham, Bullitt and surrounding counties.

Benefits of private schools. Also take into account in additional to sending their child to schhol, they are also sending others with tax money the private schools do not recieve. Parents are responsible for transportation, tuition, ect. Not to mention you have to achieving a certain performance level if you want to continue to attend the schoools.

Still irrelevant to the point. Yes they are great schools, yes they have great football teams, but they are still getting an advantage because they can recruit players that other schools can't.

As to the academic side, that is a little misleading. If you are smart and a good student who does the work, it really doesn't matter where you go to school. Where the big benefit of a private school comes in is for helping the middle of the road student improve academically.

A good example of this. By test scores, my son's school is not very good, yet they have sent kids to Harvard and I can think of three that got West Point appointments.

Re: Teams U Hate and Why....

I have a son who got into DuPont Manual and has a 4.27 GPA. He's a Senior now and for the past 3 years he's received College info via the mail, telephone and internet of College's wishing him well on his decision of picking a College.....

He choose Dupont Manual, as he wanted the challenge of making it thru the toughest High School academic wise available for him. With his decision of choosing this tough road, it's only opened more doors for his future down the road now.

My other son is a Military buff, he wanted to be a member of the best Marine Corps Jr. ROTC Drill Team available...He choose to attend Fern Creek H.S. Is this School on top of the list of High Achiever's, no it is not..But he makes every effort to give 100% towards his education and has a 4.02 GPA....His love for the ROTC program is what motivates him to do the very best he can each day while at Fern Creek....

I believe that it's what kids put into their education and extra curricular activities as to what School they want to attend...
