My brother and I got a chance to fish at Cave Run yesterday. He offered to take his boat since he hadnt ran it in a while, which was ok with me. His 21' triton fishes much better in the wind than my 19' tracker. He wanted to bass fish, cause thats what he does, so I figured I would go along. Now I typically dont care much for bass fishing, but some time on the water with family sounded good to me. Put in at Scott creek, and headed up the lake. About 30 min into our trip with the wind just starting to pick up, he realized that not charging his batteries in a month may be a issue. So here we were, 7:30, no juice. It didnt bother me at all, mostly cause I have did the very thing in the not so distant past. So instead of calling it quits we decided to make the best of it. For those of you who have not been there, there are alot of stick ups, expecially this time of year with the lake down about 3 feet. So we took the big motor, got up wind of the trees and just drifted through the trees. Not only did we manage 3 fish, one decent one maybe 2.5 or so, we got a heck of a workout. Trying to manage a 21' boat through the trees in a 15 mph wind and fish is difficult. All and all, we had a great time, and the weather was good. Two of the fish come on square billed cranks, big one on a rattle trap.
