Where can I find marine grade plywood

I am replacing the floor in my pontoon and am wondering if any of you guys know where I might find the materials to do this with in Lexington or close by?

If you can't find it in Lexington, there is a place called The Wooden Boat Shop in Cincinnati that stocks it.

I would rather buy the pressure treated as it is less than half the price but from what I have found so far the pressure treated is very poor quality as in bowed and warped, really rough looking... If I could find a better quality of that stuff I would be satisfied with it.

Thanks, I hope I don't have to go that far to find it but I would rather make the drive than order it, I hate buying a pig in a poke.

Use normal lumber & fiberglass it. It takes a little longer but the end product costs about the same & has much better quality. The added weight really isn't a factor since its evenly distributed.

I did this for the floor on my 14 V-hull Grumman. My buddie's brother did it on his pontoon.

Re: Where can I find marine grade plywood

I bought mine here in Louisville at Boland Malony Lumber. I would think any "real" lumber yard should have it (not Lowe's/Home Depot). While I was buying it, the "wood guy" exlained to me that it is the glue that is used in marine grade plywood that makes it different --- the glue is water proof and that's why it works and lasts so long. I know others have mentioned pressure treated, but there's a reason they make marine grade. Yes, it is more expensive, but it's made for the job.

    Good luck with your project.

Lowe's info, if not in store they will order for you to pickup there.

    15/32 x 4 x 8 Marine ABX PlywoodItem #: 12344 | Model #: LBR12344
    $57.28

Be careful about the treated wood, because the stuff its treated with can cause galvanic corsion long term, and its hardderd to get marine adhesives for carpet to stick to it.

    Treated plwood sheet =
    4ft x 8ft x 1/2in Fir CDX Treated PlywoodItem #: 202760 | Model #: 202760 $24.97
    Eitehr way, good luck man.

Re: Where can I find marine grade plywood

Thanks fellas'... I'm not sure which I will use, I have read about the glue not wanting to stick to the pressure treated but that might not be a big problem, The major stumbling block so far with the pressure treated panels is the quality of what I have seen, If I can find some treated that is better quality I will probably use that but it at least has to be flat without the voids in the surface... I repaired the floor in a bass boat a few years ago and used the pressure treated and fiber glassed the surface but I don't remember it being as bad as what I have seen so far.

Pressure treated does bow a bit. Peter had a post about pressure treated wood and aluminum a while back. Seems he had some issues with it if I recall correctly. LK Tapp and son's has it in Elizabethtown. Last i priced it was $90 for a 3/4 4x8 sheet, however you cut it you have to seal cut edges. And it is heavy.
