Sauger can be caught below the Falls in the cold months. They can sometimes be difficult to locate but just do a search about "sauger" here and you should find lots of older posts and instructions. Good luck.

So when does fishing slow down in KY (or does it)? I just started fishing this past year and did some SM fishing near the Falls of the Ohio and on Harrods Creek. Should I start fishing for something else? I really want to do some trout fishing on the Cumberland this year.
Also, if someone knows of a good book that outlines the behavior of fish in KY I would love to know the title. I am a bit of a book worm when it comes to my hobbies (I over research everything). Reading a good book on fishing through the colder months would be great.
Thanks in advance.

Winter time in KY is my favorite time to fish...especially for smallmouth! Look at float n fly on lakes such as Laurel Lake, Dale Hollow and Lake Cumberland!
It's been my experience that winter fishing in Kentucky is not to much different than daytime summer fishing is. That's not considering the fact that I'm a Bama girl and I despise cold weather. We find the fish in basically the same type of areas and with some adjustment in our techiques the results are somewhat the same. That being for the most part feast or famine. Of course night time summer fishing is a different matter. One thing for sure, you won't catch anything if you don't try. Except maybe a cold or something. Tight lines and good times to ya.
Thanks. Should be good enough to get me started. Just didn't want to sit out in the cold if there was nothing to be caught.
