I don't fish Destin or Ft Walton but have made a fall trip to Panama City Beach most years since the mid 1980's.Usually don't take a boat but do at times to fish the bays and near shore.Stayed 2 weeks this fall at FT.Pickens and two weeks at St. Andrews State Park.Spent two weeks last April in Panama City Beach pier fishing, caught a lot of fish, had a good time.Destin is a great place to go with a smaller boat because of the good offshore fishing being so close, must try it sometime.

Half Hitch Tackle is the place to go for sure, great people. For you guy's venturing out on the jeddi's be carefull they are slick and a good go to bait for about anything is a Gotcha, they will catch about anything. Good luck ChuckI fish in the rodeo there every October. We stay just east of Destin at the Beach House Condos on Scenic Gulf Drive. It's a gated complex that's clean and reasonably priced. It's only a 5 minute drive to Harborwalk Marina. Make sure you visit Half Hitch Tackle. Great place with a friendly staff. They are always glad to pass along tips and "whats biting" info.
Rich, I'm in Colorado for 10 days now. You know where I live, I left a key under the mat for ya! Don't forget to feed my fish!!
I moved to Navarre, FL about a year and a half ago from Crestwood. Navarre is about 30 minutes west of Destin.
I fish and free dive the Destin jetties every now and then, but now that its getting colder, not so much. To get to the East Jetties from shore, head down Gulf Shores Drive until you see some gravel parking on the north (right) side of the road and there is a blue public beach access sign. You cant miss it. The snorkeling in the summer is fantastic with beautiful fish. I had a blast collecting some for my aquarium.
Right now the pompano run is in full swing and so most of my fishing efforts have been sitting in a chair, drinking beer and waiting for one of the tastiest critters with fins to bite my hook. Been doing fairly well and eating pompano at least a couple times a week. Its THAT good.
I'd be happy to show people around and put them on fish but my boat is out of commission at the moment. During the winter I dont do much other then fish for whiting (another fine treat and I hope to get the world record this year as last year I was just two ounces shy and had one break off that would have crushed the record) and bonita from the Navarre Pier.
Starting in late February into early March, the Sheepshead will be in near by Pensacola Pass. This is FUN and cheap fishing for the entire family.
My email is jldowns04 at g mail dot com for anyone wanting to do some fishing!
Trout and Reds have not moved into the area behind Poppy's yet or at least I have not been able to catch them on the Gulp shrimp and Redfish Magic baits. Last Monday the , hot at the 331 bridge coming into hwy 98 but other than that sporadic for me. At least I have been able to catch at least one Bass over 5 each day from the golf course ponds.
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
