Any reports on the sauger fishing from a boat at the dam. The river access for shore fishing on the Kentucky side is nice but it doesn't get you close enough to the dam for the prime sauger fishing. Any infro about the fishing from Markland or Meldah dam is appreciated.

very few posts on walleyes or saugers on this site. The Markland, and McAlpine dams both have pretty good shore access right up to the dams, but both dams are in Indiana (on the ohio river) and both dams have the best access from the indians side. The saugers are picking up right now, with several being caught recently. Waterweather.com will give you pretty good river info ad far as water levels, and temps. Seems like if you can get to the river on a cloudy day (or evening) when the water level is in the 20-25ft range and 40° or less, you will hook up with a mess of fish. Good luck, and maybe I'll see you on the river one day.
