Perfect example, Southern Miss beat Houston this weekend, knocking Houston out of the BCS bowl. The first question to winning coach for Southern Miss was about how he felt in costing his conference $13 Million dollar Bowl Bid? If the college sport makes $1 profit then that is enough. Until then Student Athletes will be Athlete Students
I agree that the money has gotten far out of control, please explain why they shouldn't allow beer specifically? You are singling one item out, why not do away with concessions altogether?

College is supposed to be a place of higher learning. Jr and Sr kids in college could be over the age of 21 sitting in the student section with Beers in there hands rooting for their team is not the image that I think Universities want. Plus, the chance of legal aged students buying beer for underaged students, which is an issue everywhere. Add in the power drinking fans that show up drunk and continue the drinking thru the event. Families that take their kids to a college game and you get put sitting by the guys making Beers runs every half hour. Just my opinion

College is about having fun now just education. If underaged students want to drink they will find a way - most bring a flask to avoid paying for beer at the game anyway. I'll tell you what I do; go to the game early and find a place close to the arena that's having beer specials, have a few and a couple whiskys before I walk over, then just have a beer or two at the game. Getting rid of alcoholic sales would not prevent me in any way from being drunk at the game, its part of the fun. The security at the games will also remove people who are billigerent or otherwise disruptive to others enjoying the game.

You make valid points, but students are usually tanked by kicoff anyway and at basketball they are pretty well lit as well. Lack of beer sales wouldn't accomplish much of anything among fans anyway. If you go to Commonwealth Stadium, where there is no beer sales, you will just watch everyone take a nip from their bottles they snuck in.

Exactly what we did at the tennessee game.once we found the girls with the biggest uhhh "lungs" that could hide a flask we went in. Of course I tested each one for appearance, fit and form then we were off to the game and I was sooo happy. :-)

Yep. a pretzel is $4.00. I need to drop a few so they should stop selling junk food. Because college should teach you about responsible eating for later in life.

Srry, but I don't like the idea of putting the sale of beer so close to the kids at the games. I know they are gonna sneak stuff in and some get caught, some don't. But why try and supply the stuff ?

I agree with netboy, beer has no place at a College sporting event, kids are underage...So if it's ok for beer sales at a College event where you have underage kids..Then it should be fine for beer sales at High School events since they have underage kids there as well.....? Looks like that could be a message you that want beer at these events.

I know the difference...But I say if any of the participants are under age on the teams involved, then no beer sales should be available at the event period.....

People who don't want to drink won't, and those that do will whether it is sold at the arena or not. Here's a little tidbit mills- UK is a dry campus, meaning no alcohol, unless it is a gameday! Before you try to argue, I went to school there. What do you think about that? Talk about encouraging underaged students to drink.... Also, having the alcohol available at the game prevents bindging before hand (like all UK students)

Re: # 1 UNC goes down

Remember tailgating at football games is nationwide.

At Rupp once you are in you are in....you leave, you cant come back in until the game is over. So those that hammer it down, get a chance to come down before the game is over.

UK campus maybe dry, but across the street around the whole campus is every kind of bar you can think of. And before you try to argue, I lived in Lexington for 15yrs.

Game day....those that dont go to Rupp, usually pack these places off campus.

I've been to numerous games at Rupp over the yrs and boatload of Hockey Games when the Thoroughblades were there. Also a bunch of concerts .Alcohol was sold during the hockry games and concerts. Several of the concessions during the bball games were for high school boosters that I saw.
Now if you factor in the Lexington Civic Center and the Hyatt that are attached to Rupp is that close to the way the YUM Center is laid out?? I've never been there.....
Once you go through the gates to Rupp though you are in Rupp...totally separated from all that.

DO I think College sports should support alcohol sales at games...NO!...18-21yr old kids are still kids. Most of them want to show mommy and daddy that they are adults. Most of them are still on mommy;s tit. The ones that go to the military learn about life real quick. I enlisted when I was 18. Boot Camp wakes you up in a hurry. Would really like to see some how some of these big mouth mommy and daddy's would do in Boot Camp.

    Enough,,,LOL!!!

I was told by my mom, dad and friends that I went in as a boy and came home from Bootcamp a man. Your exactly right, you realize in a hurry that you are not on this earth for others to serve you, listen to you make excuses and baby you. You make your own way while being a part of a team that depends on you doing your part and you stand by your decisions right or wrong. All the classes, physical training, punishment, yelling, screaming and paying for others mistakes made you grow up. I really wish more young adults went into the military because I feel that our country would be more disciplined in so many ways.
