I bought the 798 SI last year. I really like it but if I had it to do all over I would save the money and buy the 800 series. There is so much detail on the units that it is hard to see on the 700 series screen. This is increased even more when you are trying to look at the split screen with the SI and the sonar graph at that same time.

Side Imaging is a break though technology that's revolutionizing fishing.

I'd love to have the 1198 with the larger screen but could not afford that much money. So I settled for the 898 C Si unit. You will love this unit or any of the larger units that Humminbird makes that have Side Imagining.

But it depends on how much you like to fish as to how much you may want to spend on these things. If you fish a lot they will definately make a difference in the way you locate fish.

There is a learning curve but it's like anything else that you buy. You have to read the manual and practice using it before you learn how to use it to it's full advantage. But to me that's part of the fun of using these SI units.

I immediately saw the potential of these things when they first came out and adviced anyone and everyone that could afford to buy them to do so. I had to wait until they came out with a unit that was in my price range before I could buy one. I don't fish that much but I do not regret buying these SI unit.
