    Braided Line on Spinning Reels

Anyone out there use braided line on their spinning reels? If so, how's the feel for different styles (cranking, jigging, etc)? I haven't tried this matchup before and thought I'd ask the concensus before I take the plunge.

I use braid on my spinning reels for top water. I also use attach a flourocarbon leader and fish finesse jigs, shakey head, and texas rig baby brush hogs on it. I love it. Very very sensitive, no spooling mess of excess line, and handles fish really good!

Re: Braided Line on Spinning Reels

I have been using Power Pro on my spinning reels for about three years and really like it. There is no line memory to content with and it adds yds to my casting distance. I do use about a 6-8 ft mono leader, but can still feel everything a jig or worm weight contacts. I have to admit that the occassional wind knot can be tedious to deal with, but a very minor occurrence and inconvenience. When my grandson uses the spinning rods, we tie everything on - topwater, spinnerbait, crankbait, jig, etc. Have not used it when the air temperature is below freezing so not sure how the braid reacts, but how often does anyone fish in those temperatures.

I use braid on my spinning reels as well with a 6' floro leader like others. It’s very important to use mono to attach to the reel though with spinning, you need to put about 8-10 ft of mono on, then braid just as if it were a leader on the other end. The braid is much slicker than mono and it can spin on the reel.
With braid the sensitivity is very good and you can get much more line on the reel for same strength plus it casts good.
I posted earlier on a separate post about the Power Pro Super 8 Slick it works very well on a spinning rod. It has not been out long but I like it much better than all other braids. If you are thinking of getting braid I highly recommend it. Not the standard power pro, the Super 8 Slick by Power Pro.

Thanks for the responses, guys, very good info. I think I'll load up and give it a try next time I'm out.

You will be surprised at the feel you will have now. I like to get feedback from my lures and braid will give you the feel you'll need. Be careful setting the hook. I broke a spinning rod this last summer on a hook set. Make sure your drag is set lite.
