Well I'm of the belief that we do not have neighbors out there. Until I see one of these neighbors (sober) I ain't buying it!![]()

what do you think, are we all alone. or do you think we have neighbors. myself I can't see earth being the only planet that holds life. there are hundreds of billions of planets out there. that would be kinda like out of all the lakes and rivers on earth, only having fish in taylorsville lake. http://www.dawn.com/2011/12/08/nasa-...hold-life.html

I think we do. But who knows.
Interesting question. In the past I would have said no way is there another planet out there with human life. Now you just never know. God created a huge universal and who knows what he did with it except for what we know. Another planet could be further away from Pluto so we cant detect it and most likely never will. We will find out at the end of time. Maybe he has a spare earth for us to us when we pollute this one and destroy our natural resources so bad and kill each other off in wars that future generations can go there. I dont believe in Hollywoods version of crazy looking green aliens with spaceships. haha that is fantasy. Just my 2 cents worth.![]()
If we have 'neighbors' out there on another planet, why would we not have seen at least one of them over the past several billion years. I don't buy into that malarkey. I believe that, like everything else the government involves itself in, it's just another way to waste money. IMO space exploration serves only a very limited purpose, if that. If anything was found, how would it be possible to utilize its resources to benefit us?
I do admit to asking a few stupid people, "What planet are you from," and I have seen some that looked like they may not be earthlings. lol
I would find it hard to believe that there is no life in the universe other than on earth. Something like 100 billion galaxies out there each with millions of stars. Each year we find more and more stars with planets rotating around them. That is a lot of places for life to start.
Whether we'll ever encounter life from another planet/moon/whatever, hard to say. Think about it. The earth has been around for around 4.5 billion years. Life started around 3.5 billion years ago. The opening of the olympic games in 1936 was the first time that we had any radio waves that could make it past earth's gravitational field. In other words, that would be the first time that another intelligent life form outside of our solar system could have had a chance to even know we are here. That gives us 75 light year radius that could have heard those radio waves. To have heard and responded, they would have to be with 37.5 light years. Thats not all that far in terms of the size of the universe. Also gotta remember that the universe has been around for around 13.8 billion years. Many other systems could have had intellegent life that died out long before the earth was even formed. There could be a number of other life forms out there that are too far away for us to know about and for them to know about us. I would certainly not be surprised to learn that there is other intelligent life in the universe. I would be surprised though to find out it was similar to humans.
To answer Bug's question on the worth of NASA and space exploration, there have been many things that were developed to aid in space flight that have been applied to everyday life. If you are interested, you can find a short article on that here: http://www.nasa.gov/50th/50th_magazine/benefits.html

With billions of galaxies, each holding billions of stars, I can't believe that there is NOT life elsewhere in the universe. In fact, my belief is it's all over the place. Now, whether there's INTELLIGENT life out there is another question entirely. On that I'll say probably, but it's going to be a lot harder to find. Much as I enjoy science fiction, in reality I doubt that humans will ever find evidence of, let alone communicate with, intelligent life from another planet.
My opinion is you have to be pretty closed minded to think there could not possibly be more intelligent life in a universe so large it is beyond comprehension.
While some of you may snicker and snort,I also firmly believe earth has and is being visited by extraterrestrials/UFO's,that our government knows more than we think, and that there is/has been a coverup.
There are far too many stories, drawings, and amazing events in history by all peoples in every era to discount.Native Americans tell of their women being abducted and impregnated by the "Star" people. Even as far back as the Sumerians and ancient Chinese there are stories, drawings, and models of unearthly beings and crafts.
Why would ancient Peruvians make the Nazca Lines that are only visible from aircraft?
it will really be bad for us all if, a planet is found that has intelligent life. the USA government will bankrupt itself, trying to send troops there. to tell them what they should and shouldn't do. the USA tries to police all the earth, and I think they wouldn't settle for nothing short of trying to be the police of the universe.
Lol now we have a place to send Obamy!! I don't deny the fact that there are other living organisms out there but as far as human like or something along those lines...nope. No one has answers to the questions or happenings that kyfanatic mentioned and just because the theory of higher beings exists.....doesn't mean it's true.
I see it this way....if there were things that flew around all those years ago helping build pyramids and such then why disappear? Proof is what I need..... In order to accept another being and with all our technology, gubment leaks and thirst for fame and fortune we would have had more to go on by now.. Jmo

Why would ancient Peruvians make the Nazca Lines that are only visible from aircraft?[/QUOTE............... theres lots of things here on earth that we have no explanation for, but everything that is, has already been. and everything that has been will be again. theres nothing new under the sun. a hundred years ago, people would never have dreamed of calling around the world on a cell phone. it took months for a letter to go around the world. now you click and the letter is there. when technology reaches it's peak. it could be lost for some unknown reason. like a hightech war, bombing every country back to the stone ages, and having to start over again. it's hard to say what mankind will be able to do in another 100 years. or where they will be able to travel. here is a link to were the bible says, there is nothing new under the sun.
