I agree with Dwayne on the lights at night. I did fish with a fellow once that shined a light right on the bank. He had the entire area between the boat and the bank lit up. I could see my Gizz 4 deep diver coming to the surface. I didn't have any confidence at all, but this guy has a 45 lber to his credit so I'm thinking he knows more than I do. He made the comment that you need to be able to see if there is bait in the area you are fishing. We could sure them them alright! I still can't use any light at night. Takes away from the experience.

I think it matters some times. Sometimes not. When fishing the night shade I REALLY think it matters. Stripers will sometimes use shaded banks created by moon light to hide from bait.
I like to fish across from marinas when I can because that area always has light on it at night so the fish expect it there.

Sorry to not be of better help on the black light question. Most I know, including myself, just go as dark as possible and make shorter more accurate casts if the fish are right on the bank.

I am not sure if a blacklight would hurt or not. We worry about a little light, yet we can be fishing down a black shale bluff that you kick the wall to keep from scratching your boat and a striper will blow up on a shad (or your bait) between the wall and your boat. Go figure.
