Cold, muddy water..bad news this time of year but if i had to fish i would stay near the deep walls and start at bottom and work my way up using bright colored baits....slow ! Later jc

They started pulling water at ~1100cfs today after holding it for over a week. That is going to make the fish really spooky. Add that to cold muddy water and you can expect little or no results from fishing. Not to say it you won't catch anything, but I would give the lake a week to settle down before attempting anything. Also going to be very cold this weekend.

Sounds like Nolin is in rough shape right now...I never had luck there with muddy, cold conditions. I would wait for the water to settle, the sun to come out, and then throw that craw-crank until your arm falls off.....

So pretty much what yall r saying is its going to be tough!!!! But I do have a 898 side imaging, do yall think that if I look for current breaks that is where the fish will be??? and How much is 1100 cfs, is that alot of water that they will be pulling????

What I'm saying is I will not be going until it has had about a week to calm down a little. The fish seem to shut down quite a bit when they start pulling water, add that to the cold muddy water and you seem to get bass holding very tight to cover or staying down deep with a case of lockjaw. 1100cfs is not a whole lot, but it is 10 times what they were pulling before. It is 1100 cubic feet per second. As a comparison, back when Nolin reached the spillway, they starting dumping 10,000cfs to keep her from going over the spillway. That's 4.5 million gallons per minute. So 1100 is like 540,000 gallons per minute.

Had a small club tourney there Sunday. Bite was very slow. The winning bag was caught shallow 1-3 feet along channel banks in the muddy water not the stained water. Water temp then was running 46-50 degrees water was muddy to heavy stain to red rock then started to clear up, but with them pulling it hard that changed. Yesterday should have been a good day with the rain, the next cpl days will be tough I think. I let you know Monday, I planning on fishing tomorrow or Sunday Just haven't made up my mind to goto Barren or Nolin yet. You may want to try using a BRIGHT RED square billed crankbait along big rock if the water still muddy since they pulling it , just a thought. Anyway have a good one!!
