Was catching 5 pounders,..4 pounders..and had a few over 22 inches! Catching them on a 300 bandits and red/ craw hot lip CB's, off of most any pee gravel points that evening, close to wolf creek. We got back to the cabin, that Sat. evening..turned on the TV...and began to hear that there had been a chemical attack in Iraq, on a village the day before (bloody Friday it was called)?? And as the news was pooring in..with pictures of dead children, dropping right were they were playing kick ball; families huddled togeather, dead with thier arms around eachother..They were saying most everyone in the village was affected...more than 5,000 people dead (with 10,000 crippled for life, and dying daily). The village was called Halabja....in the next few day..two more villages were hit by these WMDs!..killing more than 20,000 people...the injured were dying for months by the 100's.
I know we can't be the worlds police officers....and I know we can't totally change a county...But when I heard what was going on there, with these chemical attacks...I wanted to go over there myself and deal out some Hoptown whoop-ass. I just don't think the USA can just say it ain't our buisness ...when people get massacured by thier own leaders or military. If we are true leaders of the free world...we have the resposibility to be there for those that are paying with thier lives for such; like these kurdish folks. If we think there is Genocide going on..we can't make the mistake to wait and see...like we did with Germany and turn our heads to the truth;...surly we learned a lesson there! If there in Genocide happening to a group of people, the United States of America needs to show there colors and make those who are doing the killing pay a dear price for thier actions. Much more to say about Iraq..but for starters..this was enough for me!!
What Saddam did to the Kurds was horrible, no doubt. But to me it's the weakest argument out there if we are trying to justify our presence in Iraq. The Kurdish attacks pale in comparison to the genocide that has gone on in Rwanda and Sudan.

We can not save the world from itself, every time we try, for the most part, we accomplish almost nothing... I suspect in the next few years we will see Iraq be the same country it was before we decided Sadam was a bad guy... I suspect in the future there will be another egotistical idiot like George Bush jr. come along and we will repeat all this again.

A good synonym for "egotistical idiot" might be "pompous a$$"...

Well it looks like Iraq is headed for trouble already.

Looking more and more like we should have just gotten out of that place years ago.

So, do you not agree that Saddam was a bad guy?

Gee...Shiite vs Sunni and a power struggle in a middle eastern country. There's a big surprise. Mom and Dad weren't even completely backed out of the driveway and the kids were already ambushing the babysitter. Good grief.

All those people know how to do is kill each other, and it ain't ever going to change.

Hey, lets subcontract the peace-keeping effort to the Russians.

It would be good for their economy, none of our boys have to go in harm's way, and the Russians have a well demonstrated resume of staying power in that region.

Doooop!........Better idea. Lets tell the North Korean's they can have it if they want it.

Yes... Mr. Hussein was in my opinion a bad guy, and the world has more like him I'm sure but I just don't believe it is the business of the United States to set political policies of the world as far as deciding what is best for whatever country we have on our mind at a particular time... Whenever somebody like Sadam does something that might be seen as a threat to this country or an ally of this country then I believe we have a responsibility to curtail that activity if at all possible but I don't believe it is in our best interest to try and be the worlds police force.

Yea, I forgot about that one.............Thanks for calling me out.

He might not be a pompous ASS......just as Bush is probably not an egotistical idiot.

We all get carried away. I simply don't agree with pretty much ANYTHING that comes out of Obama's mouth.

    Later,

    Geo

For me, you could replace "Obama" with "any politician".

Yup, we all get carried away at times.

    Merry Christmas, Geo.
