I can't speak to durability but I can speak to smoothness and castability. I picked up one of the lower end ($90) reels about a week ago. I got the opportunity to try it out today. All I can say is Wow! I compared it, with the same weight jigs, to a Revo Premier, Shimano Calcutta and a BPS Pro Qualifier. Up until today the BPS reel was the best casting reel I have. The Lew's bested it by a good 15 yards. I am amazed! If it holds up, I will be moving towards the Lew's reels in the future.
