I too have had decent luck fishing a dropshot on Patoka. Not only on deeper stuff in the summer, but also flipping it shallow in the spring. I use a ML finesse spinning rod with 10# fluoro for deeper applications but also use a MH casting rod with 12 or 14# fluoro for shallow flipping. This is reffered by many as "flip-shotting". Drop shotting is not just a finesse technique, it is just a variation on presentation and will work at any depth, with just about any soft plastic, at any speed. A drop shotted baby rodent style bait can be killer flipped shallow when fishing pressure is tough as it usually is on Patoka.
