Shimano Curado 200E7 vs Pfleuger Patriarch Baitcaster

Price being the same; which would you choose?

Can't really go wrong with either, but I would choose the Curado.

I have all E5's and E7's and am Shimano through and through....I'm completely happy with these reels, but on the other hand I've heard really good things about the Patriarchs...You should try holding both on a rod and see which one feels best to you...That has a lot to do with how comfortable you are with a reel

I have a Shimano 200E5 and love it. The Patriarch is the top of the line for Pfleuger; The Curado is kind of middle for Shimano. I have a Pfleuger President and I would consider it comparable to a Citica which I also have. I probably like the Citica better. I am thinking it probably will be the same when comparing Curado and Patriarch. They both get really good reviews and comments.

I wonder if they take the bad reviews out at those sites?

Re: Shimano Curado 200E7 vs Pfleuger Patriarch Baitcaster

I have several of the older green Curados and a couple of older Castaics. I needed to replace two other brands I had so when I found the Patriarchs on sale at Tackle Warehouse for $109 I bought two. These were the wide spool models and so hold more line than the standard model. I can honestly say that I wouldn't be upset at all if I had replaced the Shimanos with the Patriarch. Super smooth and you can cast a country mile with them. Others have reported a lot of backlashes with them, but I found out that you don't need to really load on with the cast. They'll go a long ways with just a nice, easy toss. Price being equal?.......I'd say you can't go wrong with either one, but I'd probably choose the Pflueger.

Thank you all. Food for thought. I think I am going to miss the sale; but will keep shopping. I am probably leaning to Shimano; but I may get one of each; I need to replace/upgrade a couple reels.
