F'N'F is just glorified bobber fishing anyway. You can't say because you aren't using a certain bobber or certain line that its not the same technique because it certainly is. Its a jig under a bobber, PERIOD! It makes no difference what line or bobber you are using the technique is the same. There may be better ways to do it than others and for various reasons but its the same thing. You F'N'F nancy's need to get real!

FNF? Slip bobber? Power fishing? Flipping? Trolling? Live bait?

Who cares? Fishing is supposed to be fun. If you don't like the way someone else fishes, don't fish that way. But why feel the need to put someone else down?

all jokes and good natured ribbing aside.....can someone explain what the difference...advantage...disadvantage of braid over mono? if there is an advantage i will switch right now before i go this afternoon, i am open-minded enough to improve anything i can to catch bigger/more fish ?

    thanks for the info.

Man, I started a serious poopy storm........

    * Big differences between a fixed bobber and slip bobber. If you've ever fished the fly, you understand. If not, you don't. I will tell you this.....anyone who has EVER fished in the winter, below freezing will understand WHY a slip bobber will not work. PERIOD. For fair weather fishing maybe, but we're not fishing FAIR WEATHER.

    * Braid or Fireline is used simply for a better hookset, and less chance of breaking your line. AND it floats on top, making working the fly much easier. There are a TON of reasons why this method works the way it does.

Don't tell anyone because I wouldn't want to ruin the fella's reputation, but I know a guide down there who uses a two-way swivel instead of a three way. He clips the bobber to the main line swivel!

did respool with "power-pro" braid yesterday and threw the FNF a few times, i did see the floaters response seems quicker when you twitch the rod tip than with mono....? so maybe it does alter the action ?

couldnt throw it long enough to see about the hook set though.....catching fish on submerged stump beds vertical jigging silver buddies and theyre not suspeneded so....

My only issue with braid versus fireline is that braid has lots of little nooks and crannies for water to attach and FREEZE. That is a nightmare below freezing.

Fireline...at least NEW fireline is very slick and water does not tend to stick so much to the line and when you reel it back up into the spool it doesn't freeze as bad.

Once the fireline is well used, that is a different story. I found out last year that it is best to respool fireline early in the season so it is brand new and you will have pretty much no issues.
