    TSA

I been meaning to ask this question on here and tonight was reminded by another thread.
How many of you have been flying in the past few years?? I fly 3-4 times a year out of Lexington Bluegrass and have had some interesting dealings with TSA employees. The last three flights I have been pulled aside to be checked more closely. Last time they pulled me aside and swabbed my ace bandage (broke my hand the day before).
Then coming back from Tampa we get a TSA peep with an attitude from hell. I really thought she was gonna get in my face and fight. Dang rude isn't even close! If she could speak English clearly I would know what to do when told to do things. Geez....
I been sniffed in Chicago, scanned in Tampa and Honolulu. Had my carry on luggage inspected......So have any of you encountered this?? I guess it could be me?? Maybe I shouldn't look these folks in the eyes?? I have nothing to hide but I find it interesting that a white looking male gets this treatment and I have yet to see a black, Asian, Hispanic or middle eastern fella standing with his bags getting checked or his turban getting swabbed.

Given the avatar....you just look guilty :-)

I've batted about .500 with them. Some were real polite, and yet firm and clear. Others were just palin abrasive.

I feel for them because they have a tough job that goes thankless for the most part. Given some passenger attitiudes I've seen, I can almost understand why some TSA folks are so sour. On the other hand, as public and civil servants, they have no right to treat folks rudely unless the situation dictates it.

A thought. Never offfer resistance, but do read badge numbers, and do hit the TSA page.

I've flown out of Louisville up to LaGaurdia a few times during the past year...haven't had any problems at either location. Saw some folks getting wanned over pretty good...heck, in this day and age I'm fine with them scanning me, removing my shoes, tickling my feet, whatever it is they have to do to make sure the crazies in the world are kept in check. The most recent flight I had was on a 1971 wing flapper...first time I had flown in such a small plane in a long time...best part of the trip is the flight pattern took us directly over Dale Hollow and Lake Cumberland...I could see Grider Hill Dock as plain as day.

Don't get me started on the Asian, Hispanic or middle eastern guru's with their towels wrapped around their heads. And too...like you said, sure would be nice if you could understand some of the things other people in this great United States of America are trying to say.

I just wish they would maybe give me a sticker or something saying I have been inspected this year!

I have not had any problems flying however you can tell several have attitudes that fit people who get power for the first time. I have a nephew who is a trouble shooter in the medical fielg and flies a lot he was always getting pulled over and searched etc. he finally asked what the deal was they told him it was because he did not have a return flight. His company would send him somewhere and then they might have to send him to another hospital or two before he returned so all his flights were one way and that sets off an alert i guess. Ask them DJD why you are always singled out. I'll bet its your Avatar

I had a family member who went to New Orleans for a CDC conference and asked her to pick up some of my favorite things and bring them back to me. She did but they were stolen by airport employees who inspected her luggage.

I think the reason they single out DJD is because they like what they see, so they go back for a second, more extensive look.

BIG GILLS! What do you think? lol

    Re: TSA

I have flown into Charlotte-Douglas International twice since they went to the body scanner setup. The first time, I was coming back into the country from Mexico, so had to go through security there after going through customs. The second time, I had flown to Charlotte for a meeting and was flying back home.

Both times, I got pulled for the body scanner....both times after I got the green light in the body scanner and took a couple of steps forward out of it, I got tapped by the TSA officer who said "Wait, they changed their mind" and I was pulled to the side to get the extra special lovin. Not only did they see my junk...they felt my junk.

Then, I got to McCarran International in Vegas about 5:00...may have been slightly hungover (lol)...and got pulled there for the over-the-clothes-heavy-petting too. Plus, they took my shoes and ran them through some machine, which I thought was a free shoe-shine, but turns out it was looking for explosives residue.

I'm cool with it all, really. They're just doing their jobs. Just like some folks working the drive-thru at Wendy's are nice, and some are not...so it goes for the TSA agents. People are people, and some people ****.

I'm also perfectly fine with profiling. If you line up every nutjob that has hijacked or bombed a plane in the last 50 years they have a lot of "similar traits"...and I'm fine when folks who also have those same traits are picked out of the line at a higher rate than others. Sorry.

I'm fat. If you're trying to pick people from a group that are the most likely to have heart disease, you're going to check the fat dudes more than the skinny dudes if you're smart. That's just efficient use of your time.

The same logic applies for terrorists.

If during the cavity check you realize that the officer has one hand on each of your shoulders, I'd file a complaint. I'm just sayin...

    Re: TSA

I travel a pretty good bit, domestic and international. Been subject to pretty close scrutiny quite a few times.

I've seen them going through elderly school teacher looking ladies' stuff while others file past.

I've also personally stood while they wanded me and went through my stuff while a dude with a head dress big enough for 5 pounds of semtex walked right on through.

They can't profile without violating political correctness statutes, so they use a random system that snares little old ladies and middle aged white guys. Both those groups are of course well known for their terrorist activities.

Back during the good old days I've been air born countless times within 45 minutes of getting out of my truck in long term parking. Not any more. If I'm going anywhere that takes less than 6 hours driving, I just get a rental car and drive.
