Re: So how does GM repay the United States.......

I had concern when I read about the pres meeting with China for a business deal a year ago.

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011...security-deal/

I wonder where all of these new jobs are? What about nuclear and computer technology that we might not want them to have.

What about these union leaders. Why are they not having a fit?

What about tax breaks for off shore business that Obama and Clinton were so outraged about?

    http://www.usatoday.com/money/perfi/...fshoring_N.htm

I think that it all boils down to a dollar in their pockets!

I get it...you are anti union, anti Obama. I would prefer pro American any day.

I don't really care who is taken serious or not. That's how I see it.
You dodge the question by inferring I'm anti American. Beautiful. If you don't want to stand by your opinions, don't put them out there. Good thing you don't care whether or not you're taken seriously.

You are right about me being anti Obama, he and certain Democrats in congress are the worst thing that's happened to America in my lifetime.

Pretty long pipeline from Mexico all the way to Lake Cumberland.

They closed the plant and moved operations to Mexico shortly after they disposed of all of the hazerdous waste they were holding. The pipe into lake Cumberland enabled them to clean the site up.

Your being anti Obama was just a wild guess.

Nobama is MOST DEFINITELY the worst thing to happen to this country that I'm aware of in my 50 years of living. I have never in my life EVER had this must dislike for a President as I do Nobama.

On the Fruit of the Loom Lake Cumberland thing...I "thought" at one time they were dumping salt (or something similar, maybe "brine") into Lilly Creek.

    Good guess.

My last word on the matter. Take a ride by the plant in Jamestown and look at the cars in the parking lot. Squatters? No, they work there. That plant has never been closed.

Hopefully the country can rid itself of this administration this year. It would be nice to make Harry Reid the Senate minority leader, then be rid of him all together at the end of his term.

It's been really nice not having to see Nancy Pelosi twitch and babble as the House Speaker.

One thing is for certain, if we don't stop federal deficit spending, our country is in trouble like never before.

Electing Mr. Obama and giving liberal Dimocrats a super majority was like giving a college student a no limit credit card. Woo hoo the beer's on me fellas!

Re: So how does GM repay the United States.......

While I hate to think that they are moving the production to China....I think you guys are missing part of the problem with the Volt. AMERICANS AREN'T BUYING IT. Sales have been dismal for electric cars, Volt included. I think something like 7500 were sold in 2011. Compare that to the number of Impalas or Malibus that they sell and you'll quickly see that 7500 aint jack.

They're going to have to go where they can sell the cars if the Volt is going to survive. Period. That's just business. If I'm going to "invest" in GM...whether I'm the gubment or a private individual...I need them to make smart decisions for their future.

China is the largest emerging market in the world for automobiles. The Chinese are deciding that bikes aren't as cool as cars and they want em.
We're seeing it already in the tire business, with supply that we need here getting diverted to other international destinations, including China....and that has a lot to do with manufacturers balance sheets and the value of the dollar.

GM knows they need to sell the Volt in China if it's going to stay alive for a time when it might be more adopted in the United States. I don't think the government's bailout should play a role in their survival strategy internationally at all...which is also why I'm not a fan of the government bailout in the first place. I'd love to be able to see them keep the production HERE though, and export it to China if it's possible.

Good point....weak sales with a product that took how much R&D and cost to build cant be good!! Wonder how much of our bailout money was wasted on that Gubmnet Motors POS??

I guess if your one of the 8000 who bought one in the US and taking it back for the recall you prolly feel it's time to get rid of it....i would. I mean how long before its next to impossible to get these things fixed? Cost of repairs? These things went for $40k? Unless china has some people with some Jack I don't see them selling them there either.
