It's the Kentucky effect. Don't read to much into a loss or two this time of year. Doesn't matter what happens now what matters is in March. Slick Rick will pull out a trick and have them Cod's up an running before you know it. He knows he has to as Charlie strong is hot on his tail as the man at UL. Look for them cards to make a strong showing in the NCAA come March. Gotta crawl before you can walk. I look for Rick to click and make a lot of noise.

I'd say there's a little merit and a lot of BS.

I could see Siva and his parents as an interesting dynamic. Louisville on a little skid, Kentucky winning...if the tables were turned we'd be hearing all kinds of "sources" with rumors at UK too. It brings them out of the woodworks.

Pitino definitely has the off court distractions down to a science with the whole Sypher deal...we know he's a man *****. He was in Lexington. He is in the 'Ville. So be it.

What I don't believe is that he has somehow forgotten how to coach. What do you want to bet that the treadmill torture talk is coming from the guys that aren't getting any PT? The team didn't really look like they had dead legs to me. Pitino has always been a conditioning guy, with the full court press and up-tempo style. That's why he typically can have teams ready for battle come March.

Maybe his players just aren't all-world this year. It happens.

If I were a coach, every negative Tweet or Facebook post or media comment would mean hell-to-pay in practice. You just don't throw your teammates under the bus like that. It starts with the leader of the squad grooming a band of brothers. I hate to use Cal-speak, but he starts pushing the "be your brother's keeper" mantra early every season. Maybe there's something to it.

Not being a person who follows U of L basketball, I can't comment on how the team is playing together.....but a home loss to ND speaks volumes....they are not very good. Pitino is a good coach, has proved it for years......but all coaches in time lose their effectiveness at motivating the players of today. Look at Bob Knight....his downfall was his inability to recruit/coach players of later generations because of his old school ways. My biggest question....why did Pitino announce his retirement 4-5 years ahead of time? If I were a recruit there is no way I would consider going to U of L now. Louisville has a lot of talent, but if they are in-fighting and not playing together bad things will come!

I agree. I think he is a good coach but past his prime. Just like Crume was. I can't figure out why when you are up by 20 you don't let the new guys play so they can get game experience, so they get what ever defense he is running.
