    Fab Five from Michigan

So, with all the banter about freshmen players, and one and done type players. What do you guys think about the Fab Five?

I'm watching a documentary on ESPN about them and I personally think they may have been the best recruiting class EVER.

    What do you think?

    Later,

    Re: Fab Five from Michigan

I have watched that several times along with commentary with talk show hosts and they were a great bunch of kids. I'm sorry but the racial side of it turned me off. Hearing them cry about Duke and Grant was typical black crap. It's ok for some black kids who are destined to make alot of money to call educated good family blacks uncle toms but it's wrong for anyone else to make any statement about these "hood rats". I mean basketball was taking a back seat to their "hood" persona. I respect Rose for his basketball skills and commentary but I think he is another example of a sour, bitter black man who has been given way more in regards to money, respect and general admiration than anyone on here will ever see.
The fab five were a great bunch of kids......the problem was IMO they put more importance on themselves than I ever would.

yes they were indeed a great class. But the thing that made me the happeiest was when Webber called for that time out in the National Championship game and they didn't have any to call......
Cost them the game and a NC....

Biggest blunder I think I've ever seen in NCAA tournament. Handed them the championship.

You should watch the show........the BENCH is clearly signaling for a time out. It is AMAZING that Chris Webber took all the heat for that when 1/2 the bench and SOME coaches were signaling a timeout.........He saw THAT from the the inbound. WHY the hell else would he DRIBBLE directly into a trip.....other than to call that timeout with the ref closest to the bench.

YEA......Michigan coaches and Michigan PLAYERS on the bench are mostly responsible for this......

Thanks for pointing that out Geo, I never realized that until I saw the documentary. I was at that game for free thanks to a friend who had tickets and didn't want to go back to the title game after UK lost.

DJD to be fair to Jalen Rose, if you listen to what he is saying, he says that is what they believed at the time. He doesn't believe it now, but that was what was on his mind at the time.

Well it has been some time so I'll give you that. I was fired up about race at the time from watching Cordell Stewart dogging Tebow and playing the race card. Here we have what percentage of black players in the NFL and I still have to listen to black players cry about racism? It makes me sick and tired of this crap and it does make me more anti black movement/NAACP/BET/black miss America/black college fund/black panthers/Jesse Jackson/al sharpton/Obama and another black person who is getting special treatment. Folks just give these people a pass. I don't and its not that I'm more racist than anyone else I just don't like cry baby bull crap. It's gotten old!!!!!

Not sure if they are the greatest recruiting class ever, Basketball playing as the only consideration. But they are the most influential recruiting class and things they changed are still prevelent today, just look at the baggy shorts the kids wear - fab five changed this forever

So true about them changing the culture of college BB. I don't think we can consider them the best class of all time, no championships. I can think of many classes at many schools.....but from my perspective a class that stands out would be the class from IU that only lost 1 game in two years 75-76.....and had a championship. UNLV had a great one in the early 90's, UK in 96, Duke (Hurley/Laetner era), so many to consider...so little time!

Nothing's forever in fashion. Wait a few years, and the polyester nadcrunchers I wore in high school will be back in style!
