Power Pro Super slick 8 it is much better than the regular power pro. If you don't like traditional braids I would suggest the slick 8 it's better than the norm. I have 80 lb that I use for salt water, I use it on large spinning rods and jigging rods for Amber jack and I can tell you for sure 80 lb is over kill, like the other guy mentioned 65 is more than enough.
I reeled in a 32 lb amber jack just 2 weekends ago in Destin with it with no problem. In bass terms you would have to have 40 5lb bass on the end of it to match a 32lb amber jack, they call them reef donkeys for a reason.
Caught 30-40 fish per day 2 days in a row ranging 15-35 lbs and no brake offs. But snagged bottom twice and had to break it, let me tell you something you will pull your heart out trying to break 80lb test even with a straight pull. I would leave the 80 lb on the shelf and grab the 65.

Informative. I have tried several braids and never like the castability of any of them. They cast well awhile but eventually get a tangle or catch and you cast and have that sudden stop. I have lost a couple a lures due to that.

Is Power Pro limit that?

Is it good in the lighter weights (30-40 #).

I will definitely give it a try.

I use 20 lb. PowerPro on my spinning reels and a 14 lb. fluoro leader - works extremely well and allows for some excellent casting distance as the 20 lb. braid dia. is the same as a 6 lb. mono - definitely use some mono as a backing to help fill the spool up first and then add only the amount of braid you need for a regular cast.

PowerPro is ok in that size. BPS Excel braid in that range is good also. Cortland has some of the best stuff available in that range though.

My Opinion for braids is this in order of my preference:

Suffix Braid, PowerPro, and Cortland.

To me the standard Power Pro is very wirey feeling and I am not a big fan of it but the new Super 8 Slick is different it is smaller in diameter, rounder, softer and much slicker than before and also other braids I have used. The cost is higher but it is hands down improved over the standard power pro which is squarer than round to me. It is much smoother than other braids which reduce the noise as well and results in farther casting.

I have to agree about the Cortland being a good line. I have some on a spinning reel and it is some tough line.

My son and I use 65 pound power pro for muskie fishing and we've never had a problem with it.

We have had problems with other brands breaking. I have lost some really good fish because of other types of braided line not holding up very well.
