the major thing getting dumped here is off the houseboats during buckeye navy summer
Last summer I caught a Striper trolling at the mouth of Harmony Creek, at 8 pm on Saturday night, and the fish had a bikini top caught on its dorsel fin when I landed it.

Spent the rest of the night fishing there. Changed tactics, and went bottom fishing.

TN stripes have had the copeds for years. This was a big discussion on TN boards several years ago and the general consensus was they had little affect on the fish.

Man, I'm not sure where you're getting information, or if you're making it up. There aren't any factories dumping anything into Lake Cumberland or the Cumberland River. "mercury green"??? I'm not even sure what that means, mercury doesn't change the color of the water, depending on water turbidity and atmospheric conditions the water can range anywhere from deep blue, to green, to chocolate, it has nothing to do with mercury or any other chemical. Buckeye's rarely seem to have a grasp on reality. I'm not sure if you've been watching too many movies and TV show's but your thoughts on Lake Cumberland are far from accurate.

Not that I agree with the OP, but just to keep the record straight, FRUIT OF THE LOOM, located in Jamestown has and continues to flush their outflow into LC. There was quite a stir about if when they were considering building the plant in Jamestown, but in the end, the community backed down and allowed the discharge in exchange for getting the plant.

PS; On another totally different subject, how many know how GREASEY CREEK got it's name????

flylie you are correct about fruit of the loom...however their outflow has been tested to "N"th time and has been deemed environmentally safe. the outflow goes into "lilly creek", arguably the fishiest creek on the whole lake. take a quick look during a tournament, theres a reason why all those super anglers are there. also do a count of the proffesional guides hunting stripers in lilly creek.
when the uproar was going on back in the 80's over the outflows fruit of the loom was in its production hey-day and discharge volumes were at their highest and lilly creek was THE place to find 30+ pounders in april.
in the 30 odd years that fruit of the loom has been discharging effluent i just cant see any negative impact.

and it certainly hasnt contributed to the "parasite" problem as mentioned above.

It's my understanding that FOL's outflow contains salt. This may be the reason they believe there has been some natural striper reporduction. I don't think the level is hardly detectable, but it may be just enough to float eggs. It also would be water that could hold more disolved oxygen and that may be why it is "fishiest".

    Easy there MagikSmallie,

I am also a Buckeye and I love Lake Cumberland and the fish I take from there. Not all Buckeyes have lost sight of reality.
