Question Mississippi vying for "crookest state" title?

The outgoing governor granted full pardons to 14 convicted murders:

    http://www.cnn.com/2012/01/11/justice/mississippi-pardons/index.htm

Oh and get this. Four of them were trustees, working at the governor's mansion! One of their victims actually survived, and or course is now living in fear for her life. She said, "Apparently, we haven't had a really good man for our governor."

    Ya THINK?

    Yea.......sad, sad, sad.

Not only that, but their RECORDS go away too, which means they were not criminals to begin with.

Haley Barbour.........you've been awarded the GeoFisher DouchBAG of the year award.........congratulations.

There are more than 200 criminals on Gov. Barbour's list of pardons. Many of them were trustys that worked at the governor's mansion.

AG Hood is trying to file an injunction to stop the release of any more criminals that have been pardoned by Gov. Barbour. I think the Gov. was trying to empty the prisons before he left office.

You know, now that I think about it, there's a way that at least some good could possibly come from this. Something most people don't know is that when they accept those pardons, their right to plead the Fifth goes away, too. Since they can never be prosecuted for those crimes, they can never incriminate themselves. Now, I don't know any of the details, but I'd be willing to bet that at least some of them would have testimony that would help solve other crimes. Those murders who got pardoned should be taken before a grand jury and raked over the coals!

One of the most sickening things I've seen a so-called law man do in a long time. And to think that this douchebag was going to run for President.

It's just wrong. If I was a family member of one of the victims I'd probably be behind bars about now for pistol-whipping an ex-governor.

Of course, in my mind it's also wrong that so many murderers have been in prison so long on the taxpayers dime. They should have been taken out behind the courthouse and had a bullet between the eyes years ago.

I don't agree with what the Governor did at all. but it could be his way of saving tax dollars. not having to house and feed them any more would save tax dollars. after all the Governor is a Conservative Republican.

It has NOTHING to do with conservatism......it is cronyism....PURE and SIMPLE.

Personally, I think the governor should be locked up in their place.

Really pisses me off...........antiquated laws. I think pardons and commutations like this should be outlawed.....PERIOD.

    Later,

    Geo

Saving tax dollars? Really? And do so by choosing to pardon violent criminals? Yeeeeah, okay.

At the very least, you should not be able to pardon violent criminals...ever...

Re: Mississippi vying for "crookest state" title?

It seems the pardons will be reversed, since the governor didn't give 30 days advance notice, as the state constitution requires. So these 4 most likely aren't going to be released, and a couple others may actually have to go back to prison. Poor saps
