I think that if the KDFW would impose a 14 to 18 in slot, similar to Dale Hollow rules and regs on SM, that in a few years fish quality would rise to 70's and 80's fish. Impose the slot on Rough, Nolin, Barren and Taylorsville to start for a few years and study the results. I know this would kill Tournaments so maybe they could do one lake for 2-3 yrs, then another for 2-3 yrs. Or maybe have official monitors to check that tournament fish are released immediately upon weigh in. Just a few thoughts.

Yeah it might, I am just throwing ideas out that may relieve some of the pressure on our reservoirs. I might be wrong but IMO, pressure is what is causing fish quality to decline. I'd say that most of the fish have seen everything there is thrown at them, that is why the new A-rig is so hot right now. I'm not trying to ruffle feathers as I too sometimes will fish an open tourney although my lack of skills rarely puts that much pressure on the bass.LOL

    hey bullit,
I to fish Herrington and Barren and Green and Cumberland and Cedar. I must say that it is harder to catch them sometimes BUT you still can catch them. Over the 25 years that I have fished these lakes alot has changed even the way you have to fish them to be effective. To me, fishing effectively almost changes yearly and adapting to that is the only way to consistently catch them (I'm still learning and no one but KVD catches them all the time). Green and Barren as good as always as a matter of fact Green has been on fire for a few years now. I truly have caught more and bigger fish on Green than in years past and it's pounded by tourneys. Cedar has had a numbers drop off for me BUT the quality is very good. Herrington has gotten tougher BUT I've personally had to change the way I fish it to be effective. I do wish that some tourneys would lower their limit to 5 instead of 6, I'm sure it sould help some.
Have a good one and see ya on the water,
    Tim

    Re: Pay to play

Sounds like people who aren't having very much fishing success are trying to lay blame all over the place, Tourny's, KDFW....I haven't seen a decrease in fish numbers or quality. Maybe all you guys who are having trouble just need to spend more time on the water and less time complaining about tournaments and slot limits and stocking efforts.
