I took my wife there once.......nice place......GREAT food.

It was crazy spendy, spent 125 or so for dinner, and wine. Was it worth it....YES.....Will I do it again.....probably not.

It was the best steak I've ever had though. HANDS DOWN.

Frazier Arms downtown is great if you're into civil war stuff. My brother, my Enemy.....About KY battles that pitted family against family.......

    http://www.fraziermuseum.org/

Also, the Troll PUB downtown ( under the bridge is a hit too).

Actors Theatre is nice.......and if you get a chance the Center for the Arts has some very nice things going on.......

Lots, and LOTS of stuff to do in Louisville. Actually one of the reasons my wife and I chose to stay in Louisville when I had opportunities all over the country was because of some of the "arts" programs in this area.

And you definitely need to make a trip across the bridge to visit Bass Pro Shop. Just plan that effectively. Don't go during rush hour and expect traffic to be heavy coming back across the bridge pretty much ALL the time.

    Later,

    Geo

I guess this group doesn't get out much. He asked for nice restaurant. Seriously Mills, Outback and Longhorns?
I would confirm that Del Friscos is very good but if you want to incorporate Downtown into your festivities I would suggest Jeff Ruby's or Eddie Merlot. These two places are great! Yes, they are a little expensive but to a certain extent you get what you pay for and I don't just mean the piece of meat. Fourth street live is a decent after party with different outlets to party at depending on your style. If you want to stay in the east end and not venture downtown I would also suggest Stoney River to eat. Any other questions just ask and I'll try and help you out. Fourth street live also has Improv there and you can eat dinner and watch a show if there is someone funny this weekend.

Pat's Steakhouse has Ruth's Chris beat in my opinion...

    http://www.patssteakhouselouisville.com/

Like Art Carney mentioned, you can NOT go wrong with Mitchells Fish Market, high dollar but dang good. Or if you're more into PLENTY on your plate and fried seafood, check out Mike Linnig's Seafood...You will NOT leave there hungry...

    http://www.mikelinnigsrestaurant.com/

While you're near Mike Linnig's if you have some time to kill and would like to get a decent view of the Ohio River go to Farnsley-Moreman House. If you bring a bike you can ride and ride and ride for a dang long ways along the bike trail on the flood wall...

    http://www.riverside-landing.org/

I think Art Carney also mentioned Rocky's on the Indiana side...you get a pretty good bang for the buck there, plus there's a Hooter's restaurant there too!

Something else to do (on the Indiana side) is to check out the Falls of the Ohio...Bridge traffic should be ok if it's on the weekend and U of L isn't playing.

    http://www.fallsoftheohio.org/

The Churchill Downs Derby Museum is always a cool thing for someone to check out...

    http://www.derbymuseum.org/

As for 4th Street Live...I'm not real excited about it, kind of a tourist trap as someone else said. Molly Malone's on Bardstown is pretty good, actually Bardstown Road in itself is worthy of checking out, plenty along that road, lots of "culture"...as is Stevie Ray's on Main Street.

Hope you have a good time!

Ah yes, the ole fried colon-cleanse that is Indie's Chicken. That's some spicy stuff. It makes my sphincter smart a little just thinking about that place.

Would be a heck of a romantic time in Louisville though....CMIDD and his honey could eat at Indie's, then spend the rest of the night text-messaging each other sweet nothings from opposite bathroom stalls.

I agree with this. Bardstown Road is the place to bar hop and find good live music. Several intersting shops to look in too with lots of local art and such.

Here's a good website that has a great schedule for finding out what's going on when you come to town:
    http://louisville.metromix.com/
The live music schedule is the one I look at most on that site. It also has listings for the large number of bars, clubs, music halls, etc. in town if you want to look a few up.

Also, you might also want to check to see who's at Headliners when you come, they have a wide variety of music acts from time to time...The Del McCoury band is coming in Feb.
    http://headlinerslouisville.com/

Jim Porter's is another one to check out - you don't get all the young riff raff in there (no rap or hard rock), it's more adult friendly and they play some really good music in there. It's where the late 30s, 40s, and 50s age group hangs out...definitely not the place for a young guy to pick up chicks, unless you're looking for a cougar
    http://jimporters.com/

The Comedy Caravan is a cheap show, and usually pretty good. Some of the best acts we've seen there were people we had never heard of. Sometimes you can score tickets for $5 or less if you check far enough in advance.
    http://comedycaravan.com/index.cfm?p=286

I will mention one place to avoid, just on my experience...tons of people from Louisville always recommend Ramsi's Cafe on the World...they'll rave about it and say how wonderful it is. I gave it a shot and hated it. I didn't have a clue what 99% of the stuff was on the menu as the place specializes in strange food from around the world...lots of vegan choices on the menu too. Plus, the place smelled like feet. Unless you are a hippie, vegan, or vegetarian and enjoy that kind of strangeness, I'd steer clear of that place.
    http://www.ramsiscafe.com/index.php?...d=38&Itemid=57

There are some great sushi places in town. Osaka and Mikato are the two I like best. I could eat at either one of those every day! Osaka is the best though.

Indis Chicken has to be experienced to be believed! I hit the one on Poplar Level Rd. if I have to go to the Kentucky Outdoors office.
