BPS roods

I bought the tourney special rod a few years ago for like $40 and it has been a great rod for the price! I thought about buying another BPS rod this year, anybody have any pros or cons with their rods? Should i spend the extra cash and get another rod? Im looking for a 7 ft mh worm/jig rod...thnx

I've had very good luck with them. Some can be a little too stiff though.

They have some on a pretty good sale now. Also, the Spring Fishing Classic is coming up in Feb. too, and they always have some great deals then too, especially on rod/reel combos.

I have used thee rods in years past and they work fine for the weekend warrior. Tournament fishing will break them no doubt. For a guy on a budget they are ok. If you want to step up to a tournament style rod I would strongly suggest All Pro Rods. They have a series of rods for every budget. The new Herculees series hits a very good price point. at under 100.00.

I think they are great rods for the money. Are there better rods out there? You bet, but you are going to have to pay more. As the other poster mentioned, the BPS rods' action seems to be more stiff than some of the others out there. I don't think that's good or bad, just is.

Bass Pro has some rods well worth the money, but you should give the Shimano Clarus line a good look. Lifetime warranty & well under $100.00. Check them out.

Two Thumbs up to the BPS Carbonlite baitcasting rods!! Extremely lightweight, definitely sensitive and not too stiff. Give them a try for 90 bucks or so. You wont be dissappointed.

I have plenty of GLoomis rods which I love. However; BPS rods with the balance kit are awesome!! these rods are tough and easy to use.

I'm a huge fan of XPS Extreme Rods - light, durable, well balanced, VERY sensitive, and has enough back bone to pull LM out of thick grass.

I think the Johnny Morris Carbon Black rods are on sale on the web site, but they are all like 6'6" to 7', I have heard they are a pretty good rod b ut have no experience with that particular one. I only have like 2 BPS rods right now, I do have 4 BPS reels and I really like them. artcarney is right about the rods, though, they are very stiff. I personally like a e21 Carrot Stix and Shimano for more rod action.

I bought the 7'2 MH Johnny Morris Signature Series II prior to a trip to Dale Hollow. It is paired with the SS baitcaster. I absolutely love the rod and reel combo. We were fishing jigs and I could feel the bottom extremely well. The fish were in the "tap tap" mood and I was able to land 7 smallies on one day. Two others in the boat only had one. Personally I would highly recommend. Plan to get another one in the M action for top water fishing.

The 2012 BPS rods do not accept the balance kits. While the balance kits do add some additional weight to the rod, they make the heavier action rods more sensitive and comfortable to use. Only the 2011 and earlier BPS rods accept the balance kits. As I wrote in my previous reply, I love my G-Loomis rods, but I have absolutely no problem putting one down and picking up one of my Extreme rods (with the balance kit).
