This is retarded. Everyone has the same opportunity to throw this lure so I don't get it. It's not like only half the field are able to get it. It also doesn't mean you can go out and throw this and win every tournament. Are we going to throw our crankbaits without treble hooks now, get rid of side imaging, power poles make it too easy to bedfish. Where do you draw the line?

After reading the article it makes perfect sense to me. The below paragraphs are copy/pasted from the article.

The rule change, which does not apply to Bassmaster Open, B.A.S.S. Federation Nation, College B.A.S.S. and other events, clarifies the intent of long-standing rules permitting only one rod, one reel and one cast at a time. No longer permitted are double soft jerkbait rigs, drop shot rigs with jigs used as weights, double topwater setups and other multi-lure rigs, such as “umbrella rigs.”

Rules Committee members believe the rig eliminates some of the skill that should be required in tournament competition at the highest level. “It doesn’t matter how you work it,” said one of the anglers. “The fish can’t help themselves.”

"The fish just can't help themselves" is simply not true. As someone who has thrown it, IT IS NOT A MAGIC LURE!!! For those of you against it...Have you actually fished it?? I'll bet not.. because you would agree it is not as everyone perceives it to be. I don't think it's a matter of it's fishing catching ability BUT a matter of principle. The A-rig as well as the above mentioned techniques have won Elite tourneys and local tourneys as well, however, when KVD won with the double fluke rig several years back, no one made them quit then. What is the difference then than now (See Paul Elias and Mark Menendez). I have another lure...same principle...spinnerbait with a trailer hook and a trailer....same thing..2 different hooks...2 different lures. Folks this is all about MONEY just ask NASCAR. (More baits and bait companies OTHER than the A-RIG bait companies). BASS also just started a rule that their anglers have to fish from the same type of rig that they start the season with...only after complaints of Mark Menendez fishing from an aluminum boat (and winning) so he could get into some backwaters that his 20 footer wouldn't reach (Now that is weird!). Being that they have banned it from the Elite Series others will follow. So no fishing it in tourneys but whose to say you can't fish it to play a little defense (clean out some holes) before the tourney....trust me this will happen. Welcome to the great communistic regime of BASS

Ya'll have a good one and good fishing,

    Tim

BTW I'm gonna throw the A-rig on Cumberland Saturday..that is if KDFW doesn't ban it before then

My point also (see my other post above). BASS new rule states only one 1 lure is allowed. Spinnerbait can have 2 different hooks (trailer hook) and 2 different baits (trailer)?? Good question Moonshaun

I think it is crap but I am not a pro so ohh well, I just hope they do not make it illegal for the everyday fisherman that just wants to catch fish, I handle all the fish with respect and get them all back in the water after a few pics!

The DNR will decide if the everyday fishing person is allowed or not allowed to fish it.

The spinnerbait/trailerhook with trailer analogy is terrible. Come on guys, think outside the box, Crankbaits have two hooks, they are referring to two SEPARATE BAITS on one pole. A spinnerbait is still one lure and all of you know this. quit being asshats

its interesting the guy most anti-rule change here is the one actually throwing the rig, it kind of throws out any objectivity to the topic you may have had.

I dont know if the rig is or isnt easier from personal experience, but I think its the message sent across the board by experts and pro anglers that catching bass is less challenging with this rig.

All I know is the bass were still biting before the rig became hot, and will continue to bite if it becomes banned from service anywhere in the US.

Asshat analogies are all WE have, and to top that I think that we should take one treble hook off each crank bait and cut off two of the othe three hook, you know giving the fish a fair chance! By the way exactly what is an asshat?
