Went yesterday. Midlake up to Wax was a mudhole, creeks about halfway in were a mudhole. Water temps in the lower 40's. The water had good color on main lake down towards the dam. Fish appeared to be suspending around 22' and would not bite anything. Caught one up shallow in a creek, got a few bites on secondary points, but not much activity. Saw some shad flipping in the morning, nothing significant to report. Got the skunk off of 2012, that's about it. Seems like unless we get a good cold snap, we may see an early spawn. I am just hoping that we don't have a reoccurance of last year.

It started at the end of March, but by the time everything was said and done, Nolin hit a record level which was only a foot or two from going over the spillway. They didn't have it as bad as Rough though. Rough was going over the spillway for over a month before it started dropping.

It was wild because memorial day weekend nolin was still 2 feet over summer pool and when i got on the lake there where no leaves on the trees for 40 foot up from the bank. I have never seen nothing like that before, but then again nobody has around here!!!!!! It was a record year for rainfall by far. I dont know what it did for the spawn for future fishing but i didnt have the quality or quanity of fish i had from nolin in 09 and 10. And now in 2012 all we are getting is rain instead of snow in the winter ! Hope change in weather pattern isnt a sign of the prediction for later this year. Some belieive some dont. Ill just stay on the fence and say whatever happens...happens. Good fishing luck to everyone this year ! Later jc

This past summer I had caught the most fish ever from Nolin waters. The summer topwater bite was tremendous. I don't know if the high water triggered a better shad spawn, but I had a couple of days that were 50+ fish and one day that was about 100. They were not all huge fish but it was fun nonetheless.
