That is false...Mormons are NOT required to serve missions, they CHOOSE to serve missions. You must be thinking of Jehova Witnesses. Missionaries choose to serve the church for two years (boys), or 1.5 yrs (girls)....they wear church clothing (dress shirts, slacks, ties, etc.), and either travel by bicycle, walking, or cars. It is a COMPLETELY elective thing to do, and is in NO way forced upon anyone in the Mormon church. I should know, I served an LDS mission in Monterrey, Mexico over ten years ago.
