I wouldn't vote for him for dog catcher, but on the other hand. that's what unemployment is for, he worked and payed it in, he couldn't get it any other way.

I'm not sure if holding a political office is considered as being a job in the first place, is it? Can politicians who resign, get caught or just don't get re-elected draw unemployment?
There oughta be a law, lol...
First, the employer is the one that pays, not the worker. Secondly, politicians are ineligible, a fact that you think should have been known by the Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner.
I think you are wrong here. Employers are the ones that pay the unemployment insurance premiums. So he did not pay into the fund.
His employer did pay into the fund because they have many employees that are elligable for benifits should they be laid off. Elected officials are, however, not elligable for unemployment benifits under the regulations. An employers insurance rate is partially based on the number of claims against the employer.
So I don't know if he was trying to slip one by or he was just ignorant of the rules. Either way it don't look good. Was he trying to cheat, or just plain stupid? Then you have the basic ethical questions. Here you have a person that has opposed government assistance programs and complained about taxes on businesses. Then he appears to be the first one in line for government assistance and taxing employers in the way of higher unemployment insurance costs.
We may have dodged a bullit in the last election.
Then we have the really sad part. He did not get laid off or fired, he quit to run for Lt. Gov.!!!
If he would have ran for another term as AG. COM. he would have been reelected by a landslide.
Ya know I never heard anything but bad news about farmer. How was he at his job? I mean other than the crap stuff he did.....
Good question! Cattle are doing really well in the state, but this could be due to the extreme drought in the west. Soy bean production is doing well, but that is not just in KY and overall agriculture is one of the shinning areas in the economy nationwide. We could focus more on cattle production. 50 acres of KY. grass will support as many head as 250 acres of texas brushland. I toured a Texas ranch years ago. It was 1500 acres and they said they ran 250 head on the ranch and suffered in drought years.
He didnt do much I can tell, other than get a fleet of gas guzzlers, big screen tv.s. Well he didnt let his employees take furlough days, like the rest of us, he is a peice of trash, like all of em. He abused his position, didnt do squat, cost money, I have no respect for him at all. Sad what politics does to people. After he signs up for unemployment, maybe he will slide down here and apply for food stamps and welfare, Oh he has already been on welfare. he is a politician, gets paid for no work and being unproductive.

Wow. Did he do that on a dare, or what? Seriously, that just takes the cake! He's always been sort of "teflon," and it takes a lot to commit political suicide these days, but I think he just did it. And at a relatively young age. What the hell was he thinking? Oh well, good riddance!
Let's see, he Averaged 7.6 points a game, 1.55 assist a game, 1.55 rebounds a game, shot 38.9% from the field and shot 34.3% from 3pt range during his UK career. He was solid not great but a fan fav.
Farmer was one of the players known as "The Unforgettables" at UK, now maybe he can be a forgettable in the political scene.
Thought I'd add this.
Ex-ag chief Richie Farmer returns some missing computers.
