First fish of the year!

Well I had a few hours on the water this afternoon and it was fantastic! Warmth, sun and fishing in Feb???? Anyway, we were tossing jigs and I tossed my 5/16 oz jig as far as I could toward the point and as it was sinking to the bottom I felt the wet rag feel!! I set the hook and it just stopped about halfway up the swing and man that feeling was awesome!!! You know how it feels!! I held it tight and could feel her coming up to the top so I pulled the rod tip toward the water and kept her down. It was a great fight in 10ft of water! She jumped two or three times at the boat before I could get my hands on her. She weighed 4lbs 13oz and was beautiful, fat and healthy!! What a treat for the first fish of the year!!!

Know what I did this afternoon to enjoy this weather?

Interviewed a candidate for a job, calculated commission checks for about 30 salespeople, dealt with some competitive pricing issues, and worked on a market share report. Then I came home and changed diapers for a few hours!

All the while, it's early February in Kentucky and the temps were in the 60's...

I aint bitter, but that just aint right. LOL

Oh, and as a funny aside...I read your comment wrong and thought you said that your dog spent the afternoon humping his dog into sawdust.

Lol man I am sooooo ready to get back out there!! All this mild weather is pulling some of those fat mama bass up to the points around those spawning coves. The baitfish are flippin all over the place in the wind protected coves.

There is a tree in one of those coves that I got two bass out of last year (5 and 6 lbr) and that 45lb blue 6 years ago that needs visiting when things start moving back there.....

No holes in my boat. You supply the card, I'll supply the boat. With 24 volt system the trolling motor could keep us good all day. Should be just enough time to sore mouth bass in all the spots that Dasher guy likes to fish Another 4 years and may be I'll be a member too
