I read an article about 6-12 months that Walmart was going to be stocking more fishing stuff. The stores in Bowling Green KY have some in and are getting more in now and I think that all Walmart's will be getting more. It just takes time for it to happen.

I'm with you, when it comes to fishing gear I prefer not to buy factory seconds or cheaply manufactured "brand name" products made especially for Walmart.

I will go out of my way to stay out of a Wal-Mart. I don't mind paying a little extra to support the smaller guy.

    Re: Wall Mart

My Walmart experience in the past has been that Walmart stores in the more rural parts of Kentucky have always had the best selection of fishing and hunting gear...I'm mainly referencing the Walmart in Campbellsville against ANY Walmart in or near Louisville.

If I go in Walmart one hundred times I probably check out their sports department two or three of those times.

I agree. Walmarts "Made in China" approach is what started a lot of the mess this country is in right now.

I am with you if that is an option, unfortuantely around here, more often than not, the items you may be looking for from the local guy are not available. Back in December I had to drive across the river to Bass Pro just to buy a spool of Berkley Fireline in chrystal flash color for a new fnf combo.

I agree with the previous post. I live south of Lexington and have a hard time finding stuff. The local guys are great when they have what you want. They have walls loaded with plastics but never the colors you want. You would think if they are always sold out they would try to keep those products stocked up instead of useless crap that nobody has bought in five years. I think it's best to take one trip per year and stock up at a bass pro. Backwaters usually has a stock of stuff. Sportsmans warehouse should just shut down again. That place is useless. When my wife goes shopping I will stop in there to look around and have come to find that when they run out of an item they take the thing next to it and put in its place to make everything look full. I make it a point to help them reorganize everything under it's proper tag so maybe they will realize what the heck they need to order!

Actually if you want to save a load of money and make one trip a year just set at home and order from Tackle Warehouse. Free shipping on orders over $50 and no sales tax. Not to mention everything is cheaper than bass pro. i went to bass pro to pick up a football jig mold the other day (because it was on sale) and thought I would go ahead and pick up a melting pot as well because the one at TW was on backorder. Well when I looked at the price of the same pot at Bass Pro that made up my mind pretty quick. BassPro was $12 higher than tackle warehouse for the same exact pot. Loomis Rods, Cranks, Line, you name it its cheaper at Tackle Warehouse. BassPro is a joke now days.

X2 with 00SKEETER. Tackle Warehouse is the way to go if you're looking to buy tackle. I still go to bass pro, but only because of gift cards and that my 5 year old likes to look at the fish in the fish tank. The prices are much better at tackle warehouse (www.tacklewarehouse.com).

I Love Tackle Warehouse! Don't forget, 2 day shipping for only $5 when you spend 50. You just can't beat it! Prices on everything are consistently up to 10% less than BPS. And when something is on sale, they price it to sell, unlike BPS or others who only mark down 10 to 25% for a sale item. You can already pay that at TW without even leaving home. This is coming from someone who used to work at BPS and drives by it everyday to and from work. When it comes to saving time and money, I'm all about it. Of course, I'll swing by for something in a pinch.

I also swing support the local guys at A2O in Jeffersonville because if there's something that anywhere else doesn't carry, Jeremy will get it for you. Like Charmer Baits, Slongs Lures, and Reaction Innovations. There are many instances where I will deal with a local guy, but when you have a list of things to stock up on and don't need it within the next day or two, Tackle Warehouse!

I am horrible when it comes to ordering things and it ends up costing me more. When I take a notion that I want something, I want to get it right then.
