I am new to this forum. Have searched and found great information. Im 22 and I am a huge paylake fisherman and go atleast twice a week to trohpy lakes due to not knowing the river. I was wanting to add shad and skipjack to my baits this year. The problem is i dont know where to find them from on the bank. I dont know much about the locks and dams and hyrdos. Any specific locations or ways to find these fish would be nice. I know skip look for warm water during the winter months but dont know how to get to any spots by land. I would be willing to pay for information or any get someone to go down there with me. I dont need equipment or anything, just could use a guide.

Go to the boat ramp across from the hydros behind the mcalpine dam and fish for them to the left of the ramp this spring. I use roadrunners or sabiki rigs
Does anybody fish below wolf creek dam? i caught skipjack there back in late summer but they are few and far between now, just wondering when they usually come back to the dam, thanks! water has been way up last few times i have been there
I've caught tons of them early and late summer. I've caught alot during the winter there too
do you usually catch them close to the dam in the winter?? last 2 trips i have managed 2 total, and they were closer to the boat ramp
At Cumberland? Yes right in the boils of the hydros. I've never tried at the Ohio in the winter
It's game on at the CR for skipjacks!! When the water is high at the dam. You can fill the boat up in no time! The big ones are fun too!
Sorry this may be a dumb question but what is the CR and is there any places that you guys know of around a bank. I went out 2/27 on a 65 degree weather day by the hydros and didnt get a single bite for two hours. Im not sure where to try
Cumberland river
I know absolutely nothing about cumberland river though. Dont know the first place to start
Right behind the dam with a sabiki rig. You'll catch 5 almost every cast
