Well I don't know who that woman seaking is, but I don't think she speaks for anyone but herself. Now the issue that is being stirred up is employer health plans. Churches are exempt. So if a church organization has outside for profit, public, non profit companies are they allowed to ingnore all employment laws and regulations. Say its not birth control but minimum wage. What if they do not employ Baptists in their hospitals because one of them may take a pill.
The government is not forcing them to take or prescribe birth control. If their congregation thinks it is wrong they are not forced to take it. But people have to work, many of them at hospitals. Are we to force them into another religion. If it is a muslim hospital do they make their Prebeterian employees wear a burqua. Are you denied treatment because your a Mormon, baptist, Jew or heathen.
Either way this issue is charged. Religion interfering with personal health care vs. healthcare interfering with religion. Don't think there is a winning side on this.
The only good new is that the river is expected to drop below 9 ft. next week!!!
People do realize that the only thing new that Obama introduced was the lack of co-pay. The rest of this has been around for years.

That doesn't change the fact that government then or NOW should not be mandating that a company provide services they are morally against. PERIOD.
I think the solution here as in EVERYWHERE is that they no longer provide coverage for anyone........have the individual purchase whatever they want on the open market. The fact that insurance is bundled with employment leads to all kinds of crap that simply is wrong.
You don't bundle car or home insurance with work, why HEALTH insurance??

Health insurance started out as a way that companies could intise folks to the job. The insurance was a tax free benifit, so the employee was in effect at a higher pay scale. At least that is what I remember from a few stories that I've read on it over the years.
As for why insurance, I like the fact that I get health insurance through work. Larger pool of people, so the rates are lower. Employer also covers a chunk of it, so cheaper for me.
Gov't isn't suggesting that the employer provide the service. Missed the news briefing at noon today. Sounds like Obama is backing down on what was first suggested.

Actually Health Insurance was added as a benefit BECAUSE government froze wages and this was the only way to hire people. They added health care AND pensions to entice folks to work after WW II.Health insurance started out as a way that companies could intise folks to the job. But as an indirect way around wage controls during the Second World War, employers--unable to offer raises--began offering health benefits to attract and retain employees. On October 26, 1943, the IRS ruled that employers could continue to pay health insurance premiums in pre-tax dollars. That ruling legitimized and encouraged the practice Americans now take for granted. After all, if a manager is given a raise of $1,000, he may well take home only $600 (depending on the marginal tax rate); but offer him $1,000 worth of health benefits, and he isn't taxed on them. Not surprisingly, health benefits have evolved to cover massage therapy, marital counseling, sunglasses, and a host of other things that have little to do with health care, strictly defined. The 1943 IRS ruling helped make health benefits a disguised form of income.
So in reality, GOVERNMENT created this mess to begin with.
