Drugs being illegal does nothing to keep them out of the hands of people that want them...

Just like I'm sure there is nobody who drinks alcohol in Kentucky's "Dry Counties", right?

What it does is give criminals an opportunity to make untaxed profits on the street by selling weed, pills, cocaine, meth, whatever.

Legalize it. Tax it. Let companies produce it and profit from it...just like Marlboro, Budweiser, Makers Mark, and countless others already do with other addictive/mood-altering substances that are totally horrible for your health.

If nothing else, it would make for some funny commercials...heck, the SuperBowl Halftime Show might end up being sponsored by "Wacky-Backy" brand marijuana someday. When discerning stoners want the very best, they choose "Wacky-Backy" brand marijuana, the official weed of the NFL...may cause impaired judgement, inability to get to work on time, and rapid weight gain from Cheeto intake...please toke responsibly.

That's my thinking as well. Legalize it, tax it, regulate it like alcohol. That would also make it less of a "gateway" drug, because you wouldn't have some dope dealer saying, "Hey, you think weed gets you high? Here, try some coke."

I just had to mess with Geo on that, that's all. I also agree that once you've served in our military, especially if you've faced combat action, like this guy did, you should automatically be eligible for naturalization, and that citizenship should be irrevocable, except in cases of treason. If you commit crimes once you're out, the punishment should be the same as for any other citizen.

I didn't respond because regardless of my issues with legalizing pot or whatever, this was about a person who chose to put his life on the line to defend the United States.

That deserves automatic fast track citizenship. Now, if he screws that opportunity up by committing a crime. Selling DOPE is still a crime, then that goes away.

And for the record........Sell an ounce of pot, crack, heroin, meth, whatever. ROAST THEIR BUTT. But that argument is for another thread.
