I have not had any problems with Fluorocarbon line however I never use line conditioner. Try it with out conditioner it might be breaking down the line and making it weaker.Everyone seems to be going to this line and having success with it so i have tried a few different brands and i must say i am not impressed.Granted i do like the low visibility,Sinking, and sensitivity .But I have had more break offs,Knot's while casting than i can count.I am a firm believer in using line conditioner on my lines especially the Fluorocarbon.
I tie primarily the Palomar knot,Improved cinch and and make sure the line is wet when cinching down .So what is the problem here.so far the brands i have tried are
Streen 100% fluorocarbon
Vicious 100%
Spiderwire ultracast
So far the only lines i have the best confidence in is Pline Cx premium and Suffix pro mix,Both are crazy strong and cast a mile while laying smooth .
And i just do not have any confidence in it so far.Primarily i use Fluorocarbon on spinning reels for finesse fishing in ultra clear water
The only thing I can add here is that I use the clinch instead of the improved clinch for floro, AND it seems to weaken/break down much more quickly than mono in the sun. I use it for subsurface flyfishing, and can swith the entire length in a few minutes, I would be careful having lying on the deck of my boat all day on a reel open to the elements.
Fish floro all the time and have never broke a fish off.You have to use the correct knot or it will break.I think another problem is that I see people flipping an pitching with to small of lbs,12-15 lbs and then blame the line for the fault where it is mostly angler error!See it all the time.
I use Seaguar Invis-X flouro on about 90% of my reels. except topwater and some braid use...I tie a Palomar and have never had any issues with line breakage or anything. I love Flouro and will use it time and time again over mono!
