I know a little about basketball and alot of what you say is fact and some of it is conjecture and opinion just like mine, we all have one.

Pitino has been here long enough now making a top five in the country in salary to have produced more than one Final four appearance. The last two years have been down right embarrassing in the dance. I have never cared for Pitino, I did not want him here from the get go. Don't like that flashy NY BS. I'd rather have a different type of coach. I also don't like his offense. It has slowly migrated into Seneca park Sunday afternoon ball. If you are open shoot, if you got the ball drive. Hell I can coach that...

This is fact, myself and MANY MANY Card fans are fed up with his crap and publically degrating players that is for behind closed doors. He's not funny and needs to look in the mirror once and awhile. That Ego of his is his worst enemy in my opinion.

I'm a feed the bulldog guy Tim and I'm tired of ''BRIDGE'' years...GOD I HATE THAT TERM, and waiting till this guy or that guy shows up. It's time for a change and if you think I'm the only one that thinks this way, check the blogs and chatter, they are after his head.

One more thing I apprecaite the insult of saying the media makes up my mind I'm a little smarter than that, not much but a little. Pitino must go, new blood new attitude. You say Nunez can't play...why do you say that because Pitino says it, you quoted him verbatim in a earlier post. Game time trial by fire is the best teacher I've always thought so...
    Where did I say that?

I showed you who the freshman are that have played and there are a lot. Nunez and Price are lucky to be playing at Louisville. Have you ever seen them play? I saw Price a few times last year and he struggled in high school games against 6'3 centers. How is he going to try and guard someone like Fab Mello or some of the other centers in the Big East.

As for Nunez, he can shoot and that is it. He needs to get on the juice and put on some muscle if he is going to be effective. Other than his jumper he brings nothing to the table.

I disagree that game time trial by fire is the best teacher. In a game, you make a mistake, there is no correcting it so you will continue to make the same mistakes over and over. You earn playing time in practice. Nunez was on the pre-game show with Paul Rogers before the game Monday night and admitted he is basically lost.

I also believe that the anti Pitino crowd is a very vocal minority from what I have seen.

I can't pass this one up. Pitino is past the point of no return. I said this here several times before. He has had year after year after year to get Louisville to be an elite team in the country and he can't even get them to elite status in their own conference. He has lost a step in his coaching abilities, either recruiting, motivating or his ability to hire the right assistant coaches but something is wrong. Add in what is happening 90 miles to the East sure isn't help relieve any pressure off him either.

Where do you get the idea they are not elite in their conference? Last season they finished third in the Big East regular season and lost in the tournament finals to eventual national champion UConn. They are two years removed from winning both the regular season and tournament championships and back-to-back elite eights. Heck, put them in the SEC and they wopuld be in second place in the conference. Its not like they are competing against tomato cans every night. I am serious, I for the life of me can't understand some of these comments. Jeez, they lost by 1 point to a team that could win a national title this year and everyone acts like the sky is falling.

edited to add: Since U of L joined the Big east they lead the conference in wins.

Come on Tim, you can't tell me the day Pitino came to Louisville however many years ago that you did not EXPECT better results than he has produced. I don't believe Louisville is a clear 2nd in the SEC because Vandy and Florida would have a bit to say about that. Yes Louisville beat Vandy, barely at Home without Vandy's big fella playing.

Be honest, the day Pitino signed with U of L did visions of National Titles dance in your head? Be honest.....

Not national titles, because I have been following college basketball so long that I see how much luck you have to have to win one. The best team imo in the history of Louisville basketball didn't get one (1975) and that happens in a lose and your out deal.

The only two things that bothered me when he first got here was his recruiting philosophy that he brought back didn't work, and I didn't expect to get the second NIT appearance. All I ask is to be consistently in the top 20 each season and be poised to make a run at a title every few years. I think for the most part, he has lived up to it.

Everyone talks about Vandy having their overrated big guy out against Louisville, but nobody wants to mention that Louisville had four players out for that game due to injury. Vandy gets a pass, but not Louisville? Sorry, Vandy is not better than Louisville.

Florida may be the most overrated team in the country. They have home losses to Tennessee and Rutgers....yes Rutgers, one of the dregs of the Big East. You cannot lose to Rutgers and Tennessee at home and be that good.

That is why on this board in December I said UK would go undefeated in the SEC. They are head and shoulders better than anybody in that league.

I guess it is all in the eyes of the beholder.

    To you:

    10+ Seasons
    1 Regular Season Title
    1 Conference Tourney Title
    1 Final Four
    2 Elite Eights
    2 NIT's
    3 Out in Round 1
    2 Out in Round 2

This is competing for Titles every couple of years and a success. This may be for a mid major coach taking over Louisville 10 years ago after a fluke season. But a coach returning to the state where he was a Nazr Mohammed free throw from winning Back to Back titles and recruited enough talent to just about win 3 in a row, sorry this is a coach that had underachieved royally.

First you have to consider how bad the program was when he took over. Secondly, he did something that to me shows the sign of a good coach, he has had teams overachive. The 2005 Final Four team featured ONE NBA player. Think about that, one. Francisco Garcia. That is it. He took that team to a Final Four.

Also your numbers are wrong, because we haven't been in the Big East the entire time he has been our coach. He also has two Conference USA tourney titles and one regular season title. And that was at a time that C-USA had some very good teams and coaches.

Also consider that two of those out in round 1 were teams that were lower seeds. Last season's lost to Morehead was the only time there was an upset. Beat on a last second shot in the tourney, happens to teams every year. It is the difference in making a deep run or not. Look at your own team last season, a team that made the Final Four and was a threat to win it all, yet needed a last second basket from Brandon Knight to beat Princeton. It happens.

If you took everything in the context that you posted those numbers, Cal would have never gotten the job at UK. He didn't even win C-USA regular season or tourney when he was at Memphis until after Louisville, Cincy and Marquette left. You have to keep things in the proper context.

Since you brought up Cal, who took over a program in as bad or worse shape than Pitino took over, Number 1 Recruiting Class - Elite 8, Number 1 Recruiting Class - Final Four, Number 1 Recruiting Class - Number 1 in the Country and Odds on favorite to win the title this year. Either Pitino is not the Recruiter/Coach that Cal is, or Cal is just lucky. Cal's first 2 1/2 years on the job is EXACTLY what Louisville Fans thought they was getting Consistently within 4 years and fans like MHall is right to be dissapointed

LMAO you must be joking. Cal took over a team that was two years removed from an Elite 8 that also had a second team all-american (who ended up turning pro and not playing for Cal). Pitino took over a team with one Elite 8 in 15 years! Cal is a better recruiter than any coach in the country, but he is mediocre at everything else. When it comes to developing players and taking less talented teams to greater heights, he is the fourth best coach in this area.

When does Cal have less talented teams? I guess it takes no coaching talent at all to get the caliber player Cal gets to play Defense, spread the shots around and play TEAM ball. Only those Coaches that can only get "less talent" has to try and coach them to greater heights. Cal does not have that problem and won't have that problem as long as he is at Kentucky. 2 year 2 drafts and how many draft picks? Add in the current class of soon to be NBA millionaires and who wouldn't want to play for Cal? Tv every game, UK fan base, guaranteed chance at conference and national titles and lottery draft picks galore.

Still no title though. When will UK fans begin to be disappointed with all this 'talent' and nothing to show for it?
