The rig is so heavy i dont see a roblem with casting. Especially on the C3, youy should be fine. I would use whatever reel you have the line on. If your not satisfied with the performance, look into another reel.

So i went to basspro and bought a 7.5 ft heavy casting rod, specifically for casting this umbrella rig. After the guy there helped me find the rod i was looking for i asked him witch of my reels would work best on my new rod.I explained that i had a abu 5500c3 made in sweden,a abu 5600bcs made in china or wherever, and a Quantam iron.He wrinkled his nose and said is that all i got is round reels?I told him i thought round reels was good for this.He said no i needed a low profile casting reel because it casts further. So now im all messed up on this point now.I have 2 low profile reels,a diawa takera and a quantum 1310 thats 10 years old.Anybody want to comment feel free. After i put this 34 dollar line on i dont want to take it off.

You will be fine. If you don't like the reel just put spool the line on another reel. I am assuming it is heavy braid, you will have a hard time breakin' it.
i throw them on a big round reel... was throwing it on a made in china abu garcia and was told it stripped something in the reel to make the spool always spin... no need for the button any more... so i bought an actual abu round reel and i think it was a c3... mine works great even the cheap reel did until it messed up ive heard low profiles work too...
The guy was trying to sell you a reel. There is nothing wrong with round reel. The only thing is they do not fit your hand as well as a low profile but that is personal preference. I throw both round and low profile.
I throw all low pro reels, but it's a personal preference....I've slung catfish floaters with the C3 a lot and it handles them well so I don't see why it wouldnt handle the A rig....You should use whatever you're comfortable using
I stripped out two C3s on the rig this weekend. I have no idea what that means other than I have two broke reels.
I prefer to throw the a-rig on a curado 200e7 w 65# braid. I've found the higher gear ratio helps keep it up in the water column when need be.
